1. What are Question Tags? / Savol qo‘shimchalari nima?
Question tags are short questions added at the end of a
statement to confirm or check information.
Savol qo‘shimchalari — gap oxiriga qo‘shiladigan qisqa savollar
bo‘lib, ma’lumotni tasdiqlash yoki tekshirish uchun ishlatiladi.
They are often used in speaking for interaction.
Ko‘pincha gapirishda muloqot uchun ishlatiladi.
2. Structure / Tuzilishi
Affirmative statement → negative question tag
Ijobiy gap → inkorli savol qo‘shimchasi
You are coming, aren’t you?
Siz kelayapsiz, shunday emasmi?
Negative statement → affirmative question tag
Inkоrli gap → ijobiy savol qo‘shimchasi
She isn’t happy, is she?
U xursand emas, shunday emasmi?
3. Rules / Qoidalar
Use the same auxiliary verb as in the statement.
Gapdagi ko‘makchi fe’lni savol qo‘shimchasida ishlating.
He has finished his homework, hasn’t he?
If there is no auxiliary verb, use do/does/did.
Agar ko‘makchi fe’l bo‘lmasa, do/does/did ishlating.
You like coffee, don’t you?
Invert the polarity — affirmative → negative, negative →
affirmative.
Ijobiy → inkor, Inkоr → ijobiy.
Pronoun in the tag must match the subject.
Savol qo‘shimchasidagi olmosh gapning mavzusiga mos bo‘lishi
kerak.
4. Special cases / Maxsus holatlar
Imperatives (buyruq gaplar) → use will / won’t / would
Close the window, will you?
Derazani yoping, xohlaysizmi?
Don’t be late, will you?
Kechikmang, shunday qilmaysizmi?
Let’s → shall we?
Let’s go to the park, shall we?
Keling, bog‘ga boramiz, shunday qilsak bo‘ladi?
I am → aren’t I? (special case)
I am right, aren’t I?
Men to‘g‘ri gapiryapman, shunday emasmi?
We / They / You are positive → aren’t we / aren’t they / aren’t
you
We are late, aren’t we?

6. Tips / Maslahatlar
Focus on polarity – tag is always opposite of statement.
Tag doimo gapning qarama-qarshi polaritysida bo‘ladi.
Use the correct auxiliary verb – match tense and subject.
To‘g‘ri ko‘makchi fe’lni ishlating, tense va subjectga mos.
Don’t forget pronouns – they must match the subject.
Olmoshni unutmang, gap mavzusiga mos bo‘lishi kerak.
Imperatives and Let’s have exceptions – remember “will you?” /
“shall we?”
Buyruq gaplar va Let’s uchun maxsus qoida: “will you?” / “shall
we?”
