The graph
below compares changes in the birth rates of China and the
USA between 1920 and 2000. Summarise the information by
selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.

The line graph compares birth rates in China and the United States of
America and how these rates changed from 1920 to 2000.
Overall, the birth rate of both nations decreased over the period of 80 years.
Although the two trends were similar in term of a general decline, the birth
rate of the USA in most years was higher than that of China.
In the 1920 – 1935 period, the birth rate in the USA fluctuated, although it
always remained above 10%. However, in the following decade, the
American birth rate fell sharply to below 5%. In the 1950s, the figure for the
USA increased significantly to exactly 15%, which was its highest point
during the 80-year period. Throughout the remainder of the period, there
was a gradual decline in the USA birth rate, which fell to 7% by the year
2000.
Over the same period, the birth rate in China varied more significantly than
in the USA. It dropped to 5% from 1940 to 1945 before reaching the highest
point of the whole line graph, 20% in 1950. By contrast, 5 years later, the
birth rate in China decreased rapidly by over 10%, falling to approximately
2% in 2010.
The line graph illustrates the proportion of visitors to Scotland who went to
four different attractions and how these percentages changed over a period
of 30 years starting from 1980.
Overall, two of the attractions — the Aquarium and the Festival—
experienced a downward trend during the period, while the Zoo and Castle
saw a gradual increase. Among the four places, the Castle attracted the
highest proportion of tourists throughout the years.
In the 1980s, the Festival attracted a significantly higher percentage of
visitors than other attractions, accounting for about 30% of all tourists to
Scotland ,whereas about 20% for Aquarium. Throughout the remainder of the
period, there was a sharp increase for Aquarium, which grew to about 35%
by the year 1985 before decreasing back to 20% five years later. Since then,
the figure continued to fall significantly to just under 10% in 2010.
Meanwhile, the percentage of Festival visitors experienced a gradual decline
throughout the period, ending at roughly 20%.
Looking at the other attractions, the percentage of tourists who chose to visit
Castle was nearly 25%, which was significantly higher than the figure for
Zoo, at only 10%. Over the following 20 years, the percentage of Castle
visitors increased dramatically to reach a peak of about 45% in 1995, falling
to approximately 30% in 2010. By contrast, despite some minor fluctuations
around 10 to 15% during the first 20 years, the figure for Zoo then
significantly increased to exactly 20% in the last year.
