Introduction
This work will introduce the Exterior Insulation and Finishing System.
Finally, what it is about, its advantages, ways of installation, and it will also be evidenced.
main uses of this system,

EIFS SYSTEM
What is the EIFS system?
The EIFS system (Exterior Insulation and Finish System), which translated into Spanish means
External Insulation and Final Finish System consists of a multilayer of elements.
which allows for both exterior enclosures in dry construction systems
like traditional masonry. It is ideal for mechanical resistance,
supporting the efforts of exposure to the weather, and in turn contributes to its
very suitable solution for thermal insulation, waterproofing, and acoustic. It is a coating
very light, durable and flexible and used in the U.S. since 1969 (in Europe since 1945).
Characteristics
The EIFS system is a lightweight, durable, and very quick-installation system. It can be used
about concrete, cement, bricks, etc. They provide thermal insulation for construction.
continuously, thus helping to reduce energy costs and achieving environments
comfortable for all users and inhabitants inside the home. Their special
components give the façades a coat (thermal envelope) of insulation that
protects the surface from temperature variations, depending on the area
geographical and their needs, therefore contribute substantially to the
variables of eco-sustainability of a construction project.
4
Advantages of the EIFS system.
Energy saving
Given the high thermal insulation coefficients, the interior environments
They will be suitably protected from the climatic conditions.
outdoors, both in the case of low and high temperatures. Savings can be achieved
between 30 and 40% of energy in air conditioning systems.
Wall coverage without joints.
The combined characteristics of the multilayer elements allow for
exterior finishing terminations without the need for work joints and without
that micro fractures appear.
Aesthetic versatility.
EIFS is characterized by great flexibility that adapts to different projects.
allowing variables in the final materials, textures, and colors.
Weather resistance
The "skin" that constitutes the elements over expanded polystyrene (EPS)
from the different capastene the ability to resist the passage of external water,
allow the passage of water vapor through it, and absorb the stresses that
due to expansion and contraction occur in its plane.
It is an excellent alternative in inhabited constructions that lack a
adequate insulation and finishes.

Main uses:
Buildings
Houses
Social Housing
Commercial and entertainment venues
Hotels, hospitals and clinics
Institutional buildings
Components:
Supporting substrate of the system (Support plate or wall).
Adhesive mortar.
Thermal insulation of expanded polystyrene (EPS) 20Kg/m3, thickness from 25 mm.
Reinforcement mesh
Adhesive mortar
Finished in different shapes, textures, and colors (polymeric mortar of
termination.
Self-adhesive fiberglass tape and corner piece
6
EPS:
It is the thermal insulation par excellence and must be specified according to the
expected performance requirements. The material is inert, fully recyclable, self
extinguishable and environmentally friendly. It does not absorb or accumulate water, it maintains its
dimensions, of aesthetic contribution and high thermal performance.
7
GEXACO REINFORCEMENT MESH
Made of fiberglass. Compatible with all components that are part of the system.
EIFS (adhesive mortar, reinforcement mesh) provides impact resistance. It gives elasticity to
system.
8
GEXACO PANEL FINISH
Polymeric cement finishing mortar formulated for textures and colors
specific to choice. Provides the EIFS system with its final finish. Water repellent, but
permeable to gases and water vapor (breathable). Available in fine, medium, and coarse textures.
GEXACO CORNER
High-strength preformed plastic corner with fiberglass mesh. For
protection of exterior corners of the panels. Aesthetic contribution and high performance
thermal.

Type of installations
STEP 1: surface review

INSTALLATION METHOD STEP 2:
GEXACO Panel Fix is a special elastomeric mortar for the installation of the system
E.I.F.S. The following tools are required for its application:
Mechanical mixer
Serrated trowel for E.I.F.S.
Smooth trowel for mortar
Copper scraper for expanded polyester.
For the preparation of GEXACO Panel Fix, pour 25 kilograms of mortar into a bucket.
with 7 liters of water.
Mix evenly by eliminating lumps until obtaining a mixture.
homogeneous and consistent.
To begin the installation of the EIFS system, encapsulate the bottom of the wall with
100mm adhesive tape leaving a free return that covers the bottom part of the
expanded polystyrene.
It is recommended to start the installation at the vertex of the wall by marking the measurement of the
EPS board considering an overlap at the corner equal to the thickness of the board
EPS.
11
INSTALLATION METHOD STEP 2:
GEXACO Panel Fix is always applied over the EPS board with a special notched trowel.
for EIFS. For this, a work table is provided on which the sheet is placed.

Once the first plate is located, cover the bottom with adhesive tape.
initially with GEXACO Panel Fix. this encapsulation is to protect the sheet from
blows and humidity.

13
INSTALLATION METHOD / IMPORTANT DATA:
GEXACO Panel Fixtene has a performance of 5 m2 per bag in its 3 applications (gluing
EPS + mesh adhesion + final makeup). GEXACO mesh has a yield of 50 m2,
this considers an overlap between meshes of 100mm. GEXACO PANEL FINISH must be
installed with a metal flat trowel, then the smoothing should be done with a plastic trowel.
Container of 25Kg. It has a coverage of 7 to 8 m2.
For the correction of verticality (plumb of the building) use a copper scraper to
Expanded Polystyrene, it is recommended to buy the EPS of larger dimension as needed.
collapse of the building under construction.
14
For the construction of a simple window, we identified 7 types of profiles.
Which are:
Top rail
Lower reel
3. Plinth
4. Headboard
5. Leg
Overlapping
7. Jamba
Each profile line measures 6 meters long, and in the commercial sector, it is sold for
this way for whatever it is used for, they can also be measured in
millimeters as in inches, with a width ranging from 25.4 mm up to the
101.6, in measurements from 1x1 to 4x4. The thickness varies depending on the width, but

Types of glass
The most casual glass has a thickness of 1.5 mm, which would be the type of glass that is most

A thickness of 2.5 mm is used for the basic window, which would be 1 meter x 1.
Metro and in greater thicknesses in normal glass is from 3 to 12 mm thick.
We also have different types of glass which are:
3. Clear glass: this is the most normal and common glass, it is used for
the manufacture of basic windows from 3 to 12 mm thick and a length of 1 x
1 or greater than that.
16
4. Reflective glass: this glass is known as mirrors in the field of

[Link] glass panel: this is commonly used for insulation
thermal in homes, fulfills the function of isolating the oscillation of noise and a
high temperature resistance, it is composed of two basic glasses
from 3 to 6 mm thick and contains a type of air chamber inside
hygroscopic salts, which serve the purpose of removing any type
of humidity inside.

For the assemblies, we have a different one for each type of window, which is why

Wooden doors (Trinidad door workshop)
For this game, we can identify two types of doors: exterior and interior.
which can be installed on wooden partitions of masonry Metalcon or
larger structures. For the construction of an exterior door, one
uses native wood, for example: Oregon pine, oak, rauli, lenga, etc.

Installation of a door
First, the wood or strip should be presented on the wall where it will be installed.
door frame, the frame will be made with joints at its corners with a
45° degree cut so that it is perfectly level. When the
unions that have a 45° degree cut must be joined with an adhesive of
