CONDITIONS OF ASSESSMENT
The conditions related to the assessment of this learning
outcome are dependent on the mode of delivery. A range of
assessment strategies or options are available to suit the
needs of the learner. The needs of the learner will be met by
provisions of
A variety of appropriate working environments
Relevant learner handouts, guidelines and
references materials
Equipment/tools

Practical assessment will occur in a work situation in which no
assistance is to be provided by the assessor. Written
assessment will occur in a classroom/environment without the
aid of any reference material.
Where the training provider is not able to conduct
assessment, it is the responsibility of that training provider to
make provision for the assessment to be undertaken
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR
LEARNING (RPL)
Training providers should acknowledge the trainees
current level of skills and knowledge obtained through:
Formal training (conducted by educational
institution or industry in Malawi or elsewhere.)
Informal training.
Life experience.
The main focus should be on the learning outcomes of
these experiences, not the how, when, and where
learning occurred. Some people applying to do this
module may already be competent in this particular
learning outcome and should therefore be given the
opportunity to apply for recognition of prior learning. In
such a case, the learner should be allowed to
demonstrate competency by attempting assessment
criteria stated for this learning outcome. If successful,
exemption from training for the relevant learning
outcome would result.
Providers of this module must make learners aware of
RPL processes in accordance with stated requirements.

The learning materials and training materials should, where
appropriate, reflect a real life situation. Strategies should
be selected to reflect the nature of the learning outcome
and the needs of the learner. Training should occur in a
range of working environments.
For this module the following delivery strategies are
suggested:
Presentation and discussion of case studies
Use of models
Slides and audio visual presentations
Practical on the job and off the job sessions
Demonstration by trainer
In order to provide opportunities for the ICT Technician to
gain sufficient practice to pass the module assessment,
adequate practical exercises should be given.
RESOURCE REQUIREMENTS
The training provider should have access to:
A fully equiped training facility for maintaining systems
A range of situations requiring maintaining systems materials
A range of posters showing maintaining systems

CAUTION:
Training providers are cautioned to avoid the temptation of rushing
through the module with an aim of getting the learners to complete
the module before they (learners) have fully mastered the skills
involved in the module. Providers are advised to deal with each skill
fully and ensure that progression depends on mastery of the
preceding skill.
Training providers should ensure that all core skills are adequately
covered.
NOTE: Training providers are encouraged to carry out formative
assessment using the assessment criteria for the learning outcome.
PROGRESSION
After this module all skills relating to maintaining systems relevant to future
contents/ modules will be covered at that time.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR
33
LEARNING (RPL)
Training providers should acknowledge the trainees
current level of skills and knowledge obtained through:
Formal training (conducted by educational
institution or industry in Malawi or elsewhere.)
Informal training.
Life experience.
The main focus should be on the learning outcomes of
these experiences, not the how, when, and where
learning occurred. Some people applying to do this
module may already be competent in this particular
learning outcome and should therefore be given the
opportunity to apply for recognition of prior learning. In
such a case, the learner should be allowed to
demonstrate competency by attempting assessment
criteria stated for this learning outcome. If successful,
exemption from training for the relevant learning
outcome would result.
Providers of this module must make learners aware of
RPL processes in accordance with stated requirements.

DELIVERY OF THE MODULE
Delivery Strategy
This module provides for delivery in a variety of modes
including self-paced on and off the job. This could include:
37
On the job i.e. under typical work place conditions.
Off the job i.e. classroom/workshop environment within
the workplace or external providers and or a
combination of the above.
A fully equiped training facility for developing websites
A range of situations requiring developing websites materials
A range of posters showing developing websites
LEARNING RESOURCE
The reference listed below should not be regarded as definitive list and
should be amended and updated on a regular basis.
The list is not intended to be prescriptive as it is realised that many trainers
hae assembled their own reference and resources.

The content for this module appears in the learning outcomes under: skills,
Knowledge, cores and values.
The training provider is advised to supplement the materials in order to
facilitate the teaching and learning process.
In order for the ICT Technician to maintain systems basic skills have to be
provided for within this learning outcome.
CAUTION:
Training providers are cautioned to avoid the temptation of rushing
through the module with an aim of getting the learners to complete
the module before they (learners) have fully mastered the skills
involved in the module. Providers are advised to deal with each skill
39
fully and ensure that progression depends on mastery of the
preceding skill.
Training providers should ensure that all core skills are adequately
covered.
NOTE: Training providers are encouraged to carry out formative
assessment using the assessment criteria for the learning outcome.
PROGRESSION
After this module all skills relating to developing websites relevant to future
contents/ modules will be covered at that time.
