CHAPTER FOUR: - ATTACHMENT EVALUATION
4.1 Rationales and Significances of Practical Attachment
The practical attachments that have given for department of business administration students
have different reasons and objective these are:-
To expose students to actual working environment instead of only engaged in to
theoretical aspect of their courses
To provide opportunities to understand what they learnt in the class and relate with the
real world.
To assist students to acquire skills need to become practical oriented professional and
easily adopt the work environment when they join the organization.
4.2 Performance Evaluation of Our Activities
We have good communication with others at work place
To ask necessary data we could communicate with our manager from time to time.
4.3 Relevance of organization with our study
From starting date of our practical attachment as the general with the branch and particularly
with the department there is good connection with our study in transaction. Theoretically since
we have studied about transaction in class and in our practical study how to make transaction of
that remittance this organization is relevant with our practical study. In other way as general as
organization there is also good connection with our study that for that transaction is the
department of the organization and our study is related with it that has relation with International
trade department again the organization and our study has good connection.
4.4 Major problems that we faced during the attachment
As we are new for the job we have faced various challenges during the practical work. Some of
the problems are summarized below:-
Low knowledge about the work flow/process of the bank
Low knowledge about the function of office materials/equipment
Low skills about the customer handling of the branch
15 | P a g e
Generally, as of all are busy, we were not got person to assist us.
4.5 Suggested solution and way forward for attachment
Through time we are familiar with work flow/processes of the bank and we have got information
about the organization work flow from the employers and from our daily activities.
We are also capable with how to handle customers and carry out activities which are related with
customers in the bank.
4.6 CONCLUSION
The main objectives of this practical attachment was to give students the opportunity to apply the
knowledge and skills they have acquired on campus in a real-life work situation, to expose
students to a work environment, common practices, employment opportunities and work ethics
in their relevant field, to strength linkages between university and employers, and to identify
challenges and problems that students will face on the job after they complete their academic
life. Cooperative bank of oromia has its own mission and vision which make it different from
the banks and all the branches share mission, vision and value of Cooperative bank at large.
During our internship we have got different practical experiences: how to fill different forms,
how deposit and withdrawal operate, how different electronic devices are used, how manually
collected information of customer encoded to the system, how customer service officer close
account at the end work. In our stay we have did SWOT analysis and identified Punctuality of
staffs, Motivation staffs to do their job, Effective use of organization resources, Ability of staff to
serve large number of customer and Good practice of professional ethics (respect and care) as
strength, and Lack of any written documents that show background study/foundation of the
organization, Operating within limited space (narrow) which create crowdedness and Some of
materials not maintained as weakness. The bank also has an opportunity that contributes for its
development, if they use the chance. Since current situations of the world pose worries in all
dimension. Political instability and growing competition are included as main threat of the bank.
Generally, Internship is the way that students put their theoretical knowledge in to practices. It
enhances students’ knowledge by providing chance learn practical world.

4. 6 Recommendation
All in all the internship practicum we conducted at cooperative bank of Oromia branch availed
us with the tools, people, processes with which we were able to practically understand the link
between what we have learned in class within the scope of Accounting and finance. Throughout
our internship have seen different gaps that need to be improved. Considering that here under we
provided recommendation.
As long as the branch serves large number of customer the branch should have request
concerned body for more staff.
The bank in general or specific branch should assess technology advancement to improve
its services.
Educated staff is a resource for organization, the bank should focus on staffs development
Even though every guidelines, procedures and policies are from the center, the branch
should have some written documents and its portfolios.
Spaciousness of work area has an impact on success of every operation, so the managent
of bank should have given an attention.
Assigning right person at right place leads to success, rather than depending their
experiences focusing on profession is important, they should have to work on it.
To ensure security issues installing CCTV camera is a very important.
