40 ESSENTIAL DIGITAL SAT MATH LAWS

ALGEBRA

1. Slope = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

2. y = mx + b (linear form)

3. Slope of parallel lines = same slope

4. Slope of perpendicular lines = -1/m

5. Solutions of system: substitution or elimination

6. Absolute value: |x - a| = distance from x to a

7. Inequality flips sign when multiplying by negative

8. Linear growth: constant increase per unit

ADVANCED MATH

9. Quadratic forms: standard, factored, vertex

10. Vertex = (-b / 2a , f(-b/2a))

11. Discriminant: b² - 4ac (positive = 2 roots)

12. Exponential: y = a(b^x)

13. Growth if b > 1, decay if 0 < b < 1

14. Function transformation: f(x + a), f(x) + k

15. Inverse functions reverse x and y

16. Polynomials: degree = highest exponent

17. Zero of polynomial → makes expression = 0

18. Factor theorem: f(a) = 0 → (x - a) is factor

19. Rational equations: restrictions = denominator ≠ 0

20. Exponential equations: equal bases → equate exponents

PSDA

21. Percent change = (new - old)/old × 100

22. Ratio = part/part

23. Proportion = cross multiplication

24. Mean = sum / count

25. Median = middle value

26. Mode = most frequent

27. Range = max - min

28. Probability = favorable / total

29. Two events independent: multiply probabilities

30. Unit rate = value per 1 unit

GEOMETRY

31. Triangle sum = 180

32. Pythagorean: a² + b² = c²

33. Area of triangle = 1/2 × base × height

34. Area of circle = πr²

35. Circumference = 2πr

36. Volume (Cylinder) = πr²h

37. Volume (Rectangular Prism) = l × w × h

38. Similar triangles → proportional sides

39. Parallel lines → Z/F/C angle rules

40. SOH CAH TOA for right triangles
