PC SOFTWARE – MS OFFICE (PRACTICAL)

MS OFFICE WORD
Ex. No. 1
Type a passage (A4 Page, Times New Roman Font Style, 12 Font Size). Save your
document in a specified location. Say, D:\BBA\MSOffice\.docx). Save the same file with
other name in different location using Save As dialogue box and also open and view the
document saved.
Aim:

Algorithm:
1. Start the process.
2. Click All Program  MS Office  MS Office Word  Blank Document.
3. Type a passage with Times New Roman Font Style and 12 Font Size.
4. To change the page size, Layout  Size  Select A4 Size.
5. To save a document, click File  Save  Select D Drive  RIGHT CLICK  New
 Folder. Rename folder as BBA, RIGHT CLICK  Rename. Inside the folder
BBA, RIGHT CLICK  New  Folder. Rename folder as MS Office, RIGHT
CLICK  Rename. Give File name “Ex1” and save as type “Word Document”.
Click Save.
6. To save the same document in different location, Click Save As  Select Location 
Give File Name and Save as Type  Click Save.
7. To open the document, Click File  Open  Select the document from the location
 Double Click the Document.
8. Stop the Process.

Ex. No. 2
Type a simple matter, check spelling and grammar (Use Auto Correct and Auto Text
Features), Bullets and Numbering list items, align the text to left, right, justify and Centre.
Aim:
To type a simple matter and check the spelling and grammar. Add Bullets and
Numbering using the icons. Align the content using the icons.
Algorithm:
1. Start the process.
2. Type the content in a document.
3. For Spelling and Grammar Check, Click Review  Spelling & Grammar.
4. For AutoCorrect, Click File  Options  Proofing  AutoCorrect Options 
Enable Replace Test as you Type  Give the word in Replace and With Options
 Click Add  Ok.
5. For AutoText, Click Insert  Quick Parts  AutoText  Type the contents in
dialogue box  Click Ok.
6. For Bullets or Numbering, Home  Paragraph  Bullets or Numbering  Select
the format.
7. For Alignment, Home  Paragraph  Alignment Icons  Select Left, Right,
Centered or Justify.
8. Save the Document.
9. Stop the process.

Ex. No. 3
Prepare a neatly aligned, error free document, add Header and Footer, also perform find
and replace operation and define bookmarks.
Aim:
To prepare a neatly aligned document. To add Header and Footer also to perform find and
replace operation.
Algorithm:
1. Start the process.
2. Type a document with neat alignment.
3. For Header, Click Insert  Header  Select the format or Edit Header  Add the
Content relevant to the document.
4. For Footer, Click Insert  Footer  Select the format or Edit Footer  Add the
Content.
5. For Find and Replace, Click Home  Replace  Give the Content in “Find what”
and “Replace with”  Click Replace all.
6. For Bookmarks, Click Insert  Links  Bookmark. Under Bookmark name, type
a name and click Add. Click Ctrl+G to open the Go To tab in the Find and
Replace box. Under Go to what, click Bookmark. Select the bookmark name, and
then click Go To.
7. Save the Document.
8. Stop the Process.

Write any 10 Management Quotes and the change the Font Style, Color, Size of each
sentence. Make each one different than previous and next.
Aim:
To change the font style, color and size of each sentences.
Algorithm:
1. Start the process.
2. Type a document with 10 different Management Quotes.
3. For Font Style, Home  Font  Style or Ctrl+Shift+F  Select the Style.
4. For Font Size, Home  Font  Size or Ctrl+Shift+P  Select the Size.
5. For Font Color, Home  Font  Color  Select the Color.
6. Save the Document.
7. Stop the Process.

Prepare a Job Application letter enclosing your bio-data (with neat alignment and using
tab setting).

Algorithm:

3. For Resume template, All Programs  MS Office  MS Office Word  Select any
one Resume Template.
4. Save the Document.

Create a table in MS Excel with an Address (List containing Designation, Name of the
Company, Address, Place, PIN). Let it have ten addresses. Use this list for mail merges in
a letter developed using MS Word.

2. Create an Address Database in MS Excel with the fields Designation, Name of the
Company, Address, Place and PIN.
3. Type a Letter.
4. For mail merge, Mailings  Select Recipient  Use an Existing List  Select the
Address Database.
5. To insert fields in To Address, Click Mailings  Insert Merge Field.
6. Click Finish & Merge to develop letter with 10 addresses given in the Excel.
7. Save the document.
8. Stop the Process.

Have a PowerPoint presentation for a seminar which you are handling for your
classmates.
Aim:
To prepare PowerPoint Presentation for a seminar
Algorithm:
1. Start the process.
2. Click All Program  MS Office  MS Office PowerPoint.
3. To insert New Slide, Click Home  New Slide  Select Type of the Slide.
4. To changed Design of the Slides, Click Design  Select the Design.
5. Enter the Content for Seminar.
6. Save the PowerPoint.

Prepare a list of students with their marks out of 1200. Find the percentage. Count how
many scored more than 60%. Also count the number of students secured between 50%
and 60% and create a chart to depict clearly.

To find the percentage and count the number of students secured more than 60% and
between 50% and 60% using the students mark statement out of 1200. To create a chart to
depict clearly.

Algorithm:
1. Start the process.
2. Click All Program  MS Office  MS Office Excel.
3. Prepare a Students Mark Statement out of 1200 marks.
4. Find the total using the formula, Sum(). Example - =Sum(D2:I2).
5. Find the percentage using the formula, =Total/1200*100.
6. Count the number of students scored more than 60% using the formula,
=countif(K2:K21, “>60”).
7. Count the number of students scored marks between 50% and 60% using the formula,
=countifs(K2:K21, “>50”, K2:K21, “<60”).
8. To create a chart, Select the table, Click Insert  Chart  Select the type of Chart.
9. Save the Workbook.
10. Stop the process.

Enter the name, relationship and date of birth of your family members and relatives in a
MS Excel worksheet. Calculate their age as of today and arrange them either in
descending or ascending order. (ensure to have at least ten entries). Assuming their weight
(kg) and height (cm), find out their BMI by using formula.

Create a table of your friends with their mobile number and mail id. Also add their date
of birth. Find out the number of days left to celebrate their birthday and arrange their
names in this order. Create a pie chart indicating the number of birth days in each month.
