TOP 4
REASONS WHY
YOU SHOULD
START A BLOG
1. It's Fun
Blogging is an incredible creative outlet and we are
created to create!

We, as Christians, possess the creative nature of

God through the indwelling of Holy Spirit. This
means we have access to the creativity of heaven!

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the

dead, lives in you. - Romans 8:11

Practicing your writing and exercising your

creative abilities will help you to become an
effective communicator.

Over time, as you continue to exercise your

creative muscles, you will unlock creative abilities
that you never knew you had!

2. Reach the World
We are living in the most technologically advanced
period in human history. Getting your message
out there and having your voice heard is more
possible now than ever.

When you start to gain traction and develop an

audience of your own, you could easily get 1,000s
of views for every blog post you publish. Think
about that!

Thanks to social media platforms like Facebook,

Twitter and LinkedIn, your content has the
opportunity to reach millions of people.

In addition to social media, as your blog content

grows, search engines will start to rank you higher.
It doesn't take long before people can discover
your blog posts on Google.

3. Networking
As your blog gains traction and you start to get
more traffic, your readers will start to be interested
in you personally and they'll want to connect
online.

You'll get comments on your blog posts, messages

on social media and email submissions through
your blog - all from people who care about what
you are doing and are interested in what you have
to say.

Blogging is a super effective way to build your

personal brand and expand your network. Before
you know it you'll have friends and business
connections all over the world. As an example,
Startup Revival's Facebook group has members
from four continents and is growing!

4. Make Money
And finally, your blog can earn you real money!

This is the main reason that most people start their

blog. And it's a perfectly good reason! Most folks
want to earn some extra money on the side, in
addition to their day job. Blogging is one of the
best ways to do just that.

My recommendation is to focus on a content niche

that you care about. Making money is a good goal,
no doubt about it. But in order to maintain your
focus and stay excited about investing time in your
blog you need to pick a niche that you enjoy and
won't get bored writing about.

We'll get into the different ways you can make

money from your blog later on in this e-book.

HOW TO PICK
YOUR NICHE
Pick a Topic
You Care About

The absolute most important rule of picking your

content niche is to pick something you actually
care about. If you go with a topic just because you
think that topic will make a lot of money, that's the
most common mistake people make when starting
a blog.

It is important to pick a topic you care about so

you don't get bored, but most of all so you can
come off as authentic and be able to passionately
write about the subject matter.

It is also very easy to get drowned out in all the

other noise on the Internet. If you go too broad in
your content topic search engines will have a
tough time figuring out exactly what your blog is
about. This will make it tough to rank well in
search results. Also, readers will have a tough time
connecting your blog to a specific topic, so it will
be challenging to build up a loyal and recurring
audience if you don't have a focus. So, it's
important to pick a focused niche and stick to it.

Tips to Pick Your
focused niche
The best way to narrow your topic into a really
focused niche is to first pick your category. So, if
you want to write about cooking, that's a great
broad category, but probably too broad to be your
niche. Instead you could focus on a niche such as
"20 minute meals" and write about recipes that
only take 20 minutes to prepare and cook.

Here's a list of categories and example focused

niches that you could choose from them:

Category Niche
Wine Reds under $20
Exercise 20 min workouts
Travel Travel Europe on a budget
Cooking Low carb healthy recipes
Fashion High end style on a budget
Career How to land your dream job
Marketing Email marketing for small
business owners

It's important to give your readers a reason to

come back. Having a focused niche will help do
just that.

MONEY WITH
YOUR BLOG
Making money with
your blog
So, you've decided to launch a blog. Great! That's
step one. And now you've picked your focused
niche. Awesome! That's step two.

Now, you are starting to get some traffic. Your

Your mailing list is growing. Your readers are
coming back. But money hasn't magically
appeared yet! Fear not, these next few pages are
going to show you the top five ways you can earn
money from your blog.

1. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is probably the simplest and

easiest way to start earning money from your
blog.

Affiliate marketing is when you link to a product

you recommend on your blog and when the
visitor that you referred to that merchant makes a
purchase, the merchant then gives you a
commission for referring the customer.

In order to gain access to affiliate programs, you

simply need to apply to an affiliate network. The
network manages all the tracking, reporting and
payment of commissions, and they make it very
easy for you to get started.

Here are some of the top affiliate networks you

should check out:

2. Google Adsense
Once your site starts to get enough traffic you can
begin to monetize your traffic through display
advertising. And the #1 best place to go for
advertising on the Internet is Google.

Google Adsense is pretty simple. You will simply

install a little snippet of code on your site, and
choose where on your site you want the banner
ads to display. The side bar, header and within
actual blog posts is a good way to maximize your
sellable ad inventory.

Once the code is installed, Google takes care of the

rest. They will deliver relevant ads to your site
based on your site's content and visitor
demographics.

You will generate your ad revenue on a CPM basis.

This means Cost Per Thousand. So, if you display
an ad 1,000 times, you get whatever the CPM rate
would be. Google can range from $2-3 CPMs to
over $10.

As your traffic really begins to grow, you can see

how quickly display advertising revenue can really
add up!

3. Sponsored Posts
As you start to develop a brand name for yourself,
and your blog's traffic continues to grow, many
brands are going to be interested in paying you to
write posts for them. This is typically called a
sponsored post.

Let's give an example...

Let's say your niche is "gardening for beginners".

Home Depot, or another gardening supply
company, might be interested in engaging with
your audience. They might approach you to write
a blog post about planting a specific type a plant,
with a specific set of tools, and a special fertilizer -
all things they sell in their store. And they might
want to offer your readers a special coupon.

You would be writing about content relevant to

your audience and giving your audience the value
of a Home Depot coupon. And Home Depot in
turn gets their brand in front of your high quality
audience.

Sponsored posts can generate you anywhere from

a few hundred bucks per post, to over $1,000 per
post. It all depends on your niche and how much
traffic your blog gets.

4. Selling Your Own
Products
If you are able to monetize your blog through
affiliate marketing, that means the traffic you are
referring to merchants is generating sales. And if
Google is willing to pay you to put their display
ads on your site, that means that those ads are
effective and generating new customers for the
brands that are paying for the ads.

Advertising other people's products is going to

generate you good money, that's for sure. But
selling your own products and services through
your blog will generate you exponentially more
money.

As you start to understand what your audience

likes, who they are and the type of products they
respond to you could then launch a product of
your own that they would be interested in buying.
Now you are keeping 100% of the revenue from
the sale instead of just a commission or advertising
fee.

Products ideas include: e-books, online courses,

live events, or even your own consulting services.

5. Host Live
Webinars
Your audience is already online, so an easy thing to
sell them is a premium webinar event. Pick a topic
that fits within your niche and sell paid
registrations to your webinar. If the content is
good enough, and there is a compelling enough
reason to join the webinar, this could be a
successful revenue generator for your blog.

I recommend networking with experts within your

niche and invite an expert or influencer to join
you in the webinar. A big or well respected name is
sure to draw a crowd. I also recommend creating
urgency or scarcity around the webinar. You can
do this by limiting registrations to the first 50
people and having a countdown clock until the
event begins. This is a good way to give people a
push to register and get involved.

Launching a webinar is kind of like selling your

own product or service, but it's a lot simpler.
There's very little set up or resources required.
You simply need: 1. a webinar platform, 2.
payment method. For these two things I
recommend WebinarJam and Paypal, respectively.
