Windows Basic Program
The three basic windows programs
• Notepad
• WordPad
• Paint

Notepad Program
In Windows, Notepad is a simple text editor that comes pre-installed
with the operating system.

WordPad Program

WordPad is a basic word processor that comes free with Windows It


is more advanced than Notepad but simpler than Microsoft Word.

Paint Program
Paint is a basic graphics program included with Windows It is mainly used
for drawing, coloring, and editing images.

BitLocker Drive Encryption
BitLocker is a security feature in Windows that protects your data by
encrypting the entire drive.

Key Points about BitLocker:


• Full-disk encryption → It protects the entire hard drive, not just single files.
• Prevents unauthorized access → If someone steals your laptop or removes your
• hard drive, they cannot access your files without the password or recovery key.
• Recovery Key → When you enable BitLocker, Windows gives you a recovery key.
• This is very important in case you forget your password.
• Available in → Windows Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions (not in Home edition)

Programs and Feature
Programs and Features is a tool in the Windows Control Panel that lets you
manage the software installed on your computer.

Key Points about Programs and Feature:


• Uninstall a program → Remove unwanted software from your computer.
• Change or repair a program → Some software allows you to modify or repair installation.
• View installed programs → You can see a list of all applications currently installed.

Windows Defender Firewall
Windows Defender Firewall is a security feature in Windows that helps protect your
computer from unauthorized access through the internet or a network.

Key Points about Programs and Feature:


• Monitors network traffic → It checks the data that goes in and out of your computer.
• Blocks harmful connections → Stops hackers, malware, or suspicious programs from
entering.
• Allows safe programs → You can make rules to allow or block specific apps from using
the internet.

User Account
A user account in Windows is a profile that lets a person sign in and use the
computer. It stores the user’s settings, files, and permissions.

Key Points about Programs and Feature:


Each user account can have different files, desktop backgrounds, and preferences.
Accounts can be Administrator, Standard, or Guest:
Administrator → has full control, can install software and change system settings.
Standard User → can use the computer and programs but cannot make big system changes.
Guest → limited access, usually temporary.
