The obsolete inventory percentage measures the fraction of a

company's total inventory that is classified as obsolete.

It refers to a supply chain metric that measures the percentage of the

orders that can be delivered on the date and at the volumes expected and
accurately. (in full).
Introduction: The KPI dashboard enables Fastenal to assess the company’s

recent performance effectively. Furthermore, it allows the organization to

break down its long-term strategy into daily operations, ensuring that

Fastenal remains aligned with its strategic goals. The KPI dashboard also

inspires employees to enhance their efficiency and concentrate on the

quality of their work. This is particularly important given the high rate of

obsolete inventory that Fastenal is currently facing compared to its

competitors. By providing specific data, the KPI dashboard will help

monitor each department’s performance and enable Fastenal to identify

underlying issues. With data-based analysis, Fastenal will make more

logical decisions.

The obsolete inventory rate is a critical metric, as it affects both the

income statement and the company's cash flow. A high rate of obsolete

inventory indicates that the company may have ordered too much of the

wrong products or received an incorrect quantity from suppliers. By

utilizing our KPI standards, Fraternal will be able to identify the existing

gap between targets and make informed, data-driven decisions.

The warehouse utilization rate assesses how effectively Fastenal utilizes its

warehouse space. A high warehouse utilization rate indicates that the

company is both cost-effective and efficient. This metric will be aligned

with our proposed warehouse design to evaluate the efficiency of our new

warehouse design.

The order accuracy rate will enable Fastenal to evaluate the effectiveness

of its current system and the suppliers’ performance. A higher order

accuracy rate means the better the supplier's performance.

The customer retention rate measures how effectively a company retains

its customers over a specific period. Fastenal, which has a significant

amount of B2B business, places great importance on developing long-term

relationships. Tracking the customer retention rate can help the company

gauge customer loyalty and evaluate employee performance in managing

customer relationships.

Inventory turnover is an important measure of a company's sales

performance and is linked to the liquidity of its financial statements. A

high inventory turnover can indicate that a company may face cash flow

issues, as it suggests that products are sold quickly, leaving less cash on

hand. Additionally, the inventory turnover rate can influence holding costs;

a higher turnover may lead to increased holding costs for the company. By

analyzing this metric, companies can assess how effectively they are

managing their inventory.

The OTIF service level and defect rate metrics will assist Fastenal in

evaluating supplier performance, dur to lacking historical data and

competitor benchmarks. Fastenal should compare these metrics against

their previous data for each vendor. Understanding vendor performance

will enable Fastenal to select suppliers more comprehensively rather than

solely focusing on price differences.

To align with our monthly inventory planning process, the KPI dashboard

treats as the key milestone for Week 4. This is crucial for assessing

performance at Fastenal and for identifying root causes through data

analysis.

OTIF is a crucial metric for enhancing warehouse management, aiming to

prevent supply chain disruptions and improve customer satisfaction.

Fastenal is currently facing with challenges from the trade war between
the USA and Canada, which may lead to rising raw material costs in the

future. This metric can be used to assess Fastenal's performance in its

supply chain and facilitate timely adjustments in management or vendor

selection.

One of the biggest issues Fastenal is currently facing is that excess and

obsolete inventory levels are too high. By using KPIs, the company can

effectively monitor its performance and track operations daily.
