UNIT 7: GRAMMAR (Quantifiers)
Too many / too much They mean more than we want. Too many is used
with countable nouns. Too much is used with uncountable nouns.
Examples: There are too many tangerines.
He drinks too much coffee in the mornings.
Not enough means less than we want.
Example: There isn’t enough cake in the kitchen.
A few means not very many of something. We use it with the countable
nouns.
Example: She picked a few apples from her tree.
A little means not very much of something. We use it with uncountable
nouns.
Example: I have tea with a little sugar.
More, fewer and less are used to make comparisons.
UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS COUNTABLE NOUNS
There is too much fat. There are too many pears.
There isn’t enough butter. There aren’t enough figs.
There is a little juice. There are a few bananas.
I want less sugar. I want fewer onions.
I want more water. I want more tomatoes.
