Understanding Psychoanalysis Basics

Psychoanalysis, developed by Sigmund Freud, is a psychological theory and therapeutic approach that emphasizes the role of the unconscious mind and early childhood experiences in shaping personality and psychological issues. It involves understanding the structure of personality (id, ego, superego), levels of consciousness, psychosexual development stages, and defense mechanisms, with the goal of making the unconscious conscious and resolving inner conflicts. While it has strengths in addressing deep personality issues, it is also time-consuming and may lack scientific support.
