CODE: EC213G Structural Analysis II
CREDITS: 4
HOURS PER WEEK: 6(4 Theory –2 Practice)
PREREQUISITES: Structural Analysis I
CONDITION: Elective
DEPARTMENT: Structures
PROFESSOR: Hugo Scaletti
PROFESOR E-MAIL: scaletti@[Link]
II. COURSE SUMMARY
In the Structural Analysis II course, procedures that are considered are reformulated and complemented.
in previous courses, to better take advantage of the capabilities of digital computers,
posing more realistic and reliable mathematical models. Emphasis is placed on the aspects
conceptual, but skills in the use of typical computer programs are also developed
from the current practice in design offices.
III. COURSE COMPETENCIES
1. Learn the theoretical foundations for the appropriate use of computer programs today.
employees in structural analysis.
2. Propose models that correctly represent the analysis problem, with the assumptions.
simplifiers required to adapt to the available tools.
3. Use software for structural analysis that is used in offices
civil engineering.
4. Interested in analysis procedures that are progressively being incorporated into the
practice of analysis and design of structures.

V. METHODOLOGY
The course is based on professor lectures, readings of additional material, 4
evaluations in the classroom and 4 practical assignments using computer software. The assignments refer to
analysis of continuous beams, to the analysis of trusses and plane frames, to the analysis of a building
with reinforced concrete structure and the analysis of an arch bridge. This last work will be
group
VI. EVALUATION FORMULA
The Final Average PF is calculated as shown below:
PF = ( EA + EB + ( PC1 + PC2 + PC3 + PC4 + PC5 + PC6) /6 ) /3
Partial Exam
Final Exam
PC: Practices and graded assignments: The 6 best grades out of a total of 8 are considered.
