FACULTY DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

“Strengthening the Core of Medical Teaching”


Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences
December 7-9, 2025

Target Audience: Multidisciplinary Faculties of KU affiliated


colleges.

Background:
The ongoing professional development of medical faculty is crucial to addressing the evolving
needs of contemporary healthcare education. This workshop serves as an introductory course,
comprising four modules designed to equip health professional educators with the foundational
competencies necessary to thrive in their diverse roles. Participants will be encouraged to
integrate their experiences as teachers and learners throughout the course. The workshop will
culminate in post-workshop assessments and microteaching sessions, where participants will
have the opportunity to demonstrate their application of the concepts and strategies covered.

Goal:
●​ To enhance faculty instructional methods and assessment techniques, thereby fostering
more effective teaching practices and improving student learning outcomes.

Objectives:
1.​ Familiarize faculty members with the Kathmandu University curriculum and its
assessment methods.
2.​ Share the multifaceted roles of Medical teachers and educate faculty on adult learning
theory and various student learning styles to adapt teaching methods to improve student
learning outcomes.
3.​ Train faculty to clearly define and align learning objectives with assessments and
teaching activities, ensuring that all educational components work together to achieve
desired outcomes.
4.​ Provide faculty with strategies and tools to design effective lesson plans and employ a
range of teaching-learning methods aligned with course objectives and learning
outcomes, ensuring efficient and goal-oriented teaching.
5.​ Foster assessment proficiency among faculty to create and utilize various assessment
tools and methods to evaluate student performance accurately and fairly.
