Attendance Requirements: 85 % attendance is must. Those failing to fulfill the attendance criteria
will be barred from appearing in the final examination. Attendance rules of the university are strictly
followed without exceptions.

Total Points: 100 Points
Semester Work/Midterm Exams: 65 Points
Final Exam: 35 Points

Course Description:
 The course overviews the basics of project management. It provides the theory and
core methodology student will need to manage projects or participate on project
teams. Project management is the science (and art) of organizing the components of a
project, whether the project is development of a new product, the launch of a new
service, a marketing campaign, or a wedding. the basic objective of this course is to
introduce, familiarize and understand the concepts in relation with real-life issues in
project management and equip students with necessary tools to resolve these issues

Learning outcomes:

After completing the course, Students will learn

 How to use project management techniques to plan, organize, control, document, and close out
their projects successfully and with minimum risk.
 Understanding the project life cycles
 Develop necessary analytical skills to successfully select, design, implement, control and terminate
projects of varying complexities
 Understand and appreciate key knowledge areas that contribute to project management
 Able to start, execute, manage and close personal and business projects

A student successfully completing the course will be able to

 Discuss the phases of the Project Management Life Cycle and a project manager's role in each
phase.
 Knowing Project performance domains and principles
 List and discuss basic project success criteria and common reasons for project failure.
 Discuss techniques for setting up a strong project team.
 List and discuss elements of a Risk Management Plan.
 Discuss techniques for planning and sequencing project activities, including the Work Breakdown
Structure and the Network Logic Diagram.
 Identify the Critical Path for completing a project on schedule.
 List and discuss the cost elements that should be included in a project budget.
 Discuss techniques for controlling for deviation from budgets and schedules.
 Discuss key elements of project management communications and reporting tools.
 Discuss key activities of project close-out.
 develop interest &motivation towards PMP certification

Course Requirements

The prescribed teaching approach is we learn by example. A variety of learning techniques will be
used in this course; specifically, a combination of lecture, class activities, experiential exercises, and
case analyses. Research shows that students learn best through application. My role as a facilitator is
to provide the requisite guidance and to facilitate class discussion, self-learning and team dynamics;
therefore, a large emphasis is placed on class discussion and practical application.

Prerequisites:
1. Classroom Respect and Professionalism
It is important and required that you always be respectful of others in the classroom and while
working in your teams. All thoughtful and professional opinions and comments are welcome.
Students should try to have a positive attitude and willingness to listen to other’s opinions. This
includes e-mail messages. Please be professional. I take this very seriously. Students who are unable
to act professionally will be subjected to disciplinary action as per university policy.

2. Cell Phones Etiquettes:

Electronic equipment, although convenient, often is the source of class disruption. As stated above, no
class disruptions are allowed—this includes interruptions from electronic devices such as cellular
phones. Please ensure that you turn off or set all electronic equipment on a quiet setting prior to
entering the classroom.

3. Late Assignments:
All assignments are due at the beginning of class. If your individual or team’s assignment is not
present at the time the assignment is collected. The assignment is considered late. All late
assignments are negatively marked.

4. Academic Honesty and Integrity

Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated. I take personal offence to anyone who plagiarizes, cheats
or is dishonest in any way on any assignment or exam. If any dishonesty occurs in this class, the
offender will receive an automatic failing grade on the assignment, in the first instance. If it happens
again, he/she will be dismissed and will be reported to the Office of the Dean, accordingly. In short,
don’t cheat—it’s not worth it.

Marks Distribution
 Schedule and weightage for assignments, Quizzes, presentations semester project and Midterms:
 3 Quizzes- 5 marks each= 15 Marks
 Assignment= 15 Marks
 Class Participation= 5
 Presentation= 10 Marks
 Midterm = 20 Marks
 Final-term = 35 Marks

Schedule of assignments or assessment/evaluation

• 02 assignments and 01 quiz will be taken before midterm exam and 02 quizzes and 01 assignment
will be taken after the midterm exam
• Total 3 quizzes and 3 assignments will be taken. 5 marks each
• Presentations will be started after midterm exam, whereas the topics for presentations, group
members and dates will be finalized before midterm exam
