Despite the environmental benefits of riding a bicycle, not many people worldwide prefer this mean of

transport. This essay will discuss the reason behind this phenomenon and propose possible solutions to
this problem.

There are several reasons why cycling is unpopular in many places. First of all, using a bike to skirt
around is time-consuming because the speed of a bicycle is as slow as a turtle when compared with cars
or motorbikes. Therefore, individuals prefer to use other vehicles, such as motorbikes or cars, which
would take less time to move. Secondly, using a bike is inconvenient since it takes a lot of energy to ride.
This tends to discourage people from choosing this method, especially on a hot and sunny day or when
they have to travel a long distance.

Various measures, nevertheless, can be adopted to increase the popularity of bicycles. The first option is
to increase the cost of owning a motorcycle or car. This can be done by increasing the price of gasoline
or raising the tax on these vehicles. As a result, more people would cycle on a regular basis. Additionally,
the government should invest more in cycling infrastructure. Riding a bicycle will become far more
comfortable and convenient by developing more lanes that serve only cyclists. For instance, Amsterdam
succeeds in becoming the bicycle capital of the world thanks to the government’s efforts.

In conclusion, there are some reasons why bicycles are becoming less common in the modern world,
and solutions should be implemented to promote this environmentally friendly means of transport.
