1. NETWORKING – CONCEPT

Networking means connecting two or more devices to share data, resources, and communication.

Benefits:

• Resource Sharing

2. NETWORKING TERMINOLOGIES

• NIC – Connects computer to network

• Repeater – Boosts weak signals

• Hub – Sends data to all devices

• Switch – Sends data to specific device

• Bridge – Connects LAN segments

• Gateway – Connects different networks

• Router – Routes data between networks, used for Wi-Fi

3. WIRED vs WIRELESS NETWORKING

Wired: Fast, secure, uses cables

Wireless: Flexible, uses radio waves

4. WIRELESS LAN

Local wireless network using Wi-Fi.

5. PEER-TO-PEER vs CLIENT-SERVER

Peer-to-Peer: No server, equal computers

Client-Server: Central server, used in offices

Extranet – Limited access for outsiders
