TD FM series

Exercise No. 1:
A 10 MHz carrier is modulated by a sinusoidal signal of 8 kHz frequency. The frequency excursion is
32 kHz.
oCalculate the bandwidth of the resulting FM signal.

Exercise No. 2:
A carrierp(t)of frequencyfp1 MHzof amplitudeE = 1Vis frequency modulated:
The modulating wave is a sinusoidal wave of amplitudea = 2.5 Vand of frequencyfm= 500HzThe excursion of
modulation is∆f = 5.5 kHz.

Write the mathematical expression of the modulated signal

Determine the modulation index

Calculate the bandwidth of the modulated signal

Exercise No. 3:
Let the following frequency-modulated signal be:

s ( t=
) Ecos(ωp t + 0.5sin(ω)m t)
We will take:E = 1 V, ωp= 107rad/sandωm= 104rad/s.
give the carrier frequency, the modulating frequency, the frequency excursion, the modulation index and
spectral congestion.
Represent the appearance of the spectrumS(F)ofs(t).

give the frequency band occupied byS(F).

Exercise No. 4:
A frequency carrierfc= 100 MHzis frequency-modulated by a sinusoidal signal
of amplitudeam20 voltsand frequencyfm= 100 kHzThe frequency sensitivity of
modulator isk = 25 kHz/V.
Estimate the bandwidth of the FM signal using Carson's rule.
Redo the estimation by considering only the lateral components of the spectrum whose amplitude reaches at least
one percent of that of the unmodulated carrier.
What happens to these results if we double the amplitude of the modulating signal? And if we double its frequency?

Exercise No. 5:
An audio signal with a bandwidth ranging from 200 Hz to 4 kHz, frequency modulates a carrier of
50 MHz. The frequency deviation per volt is 1 kHz/V and the maximum audio voltage that can be
the transmission is 3V.
Calculate the frequency deviation and the bandwidth of the FM signal.

Exercise No. 6:
The oscillogram below shows an FM carrier modulated by a pure sinusoidal signal.
