Unit 2:
Capi: Hey Beary, do you ever feel there’s a big generation gap between us and our parents?
Beary: Yeah, definitely. I think it’s because we have different values and lifestyles. Young
people want more freedom, while older people prefer traditions.
Capi: True. And there’s also a technology gap. We grow up with smartphones, but they
didn’t, so they sometimes think we rely on technology too much.
Beary: That’s why we often have a communication barrier. We talk in a modern way, they
talk in a traditional way, and we don’t always understand each other.
Capi: Exactly. It leads to misunderstandings and small conflicts. Sometimes I say
something simple, but my parents take it the wrong way.
Beary: Same here. And it can weaken family bonds, making everyone feel stressed.
Capi: So what can we do?
Beary: I think the first step is to improve communication. Just talk more, and explain things
clearly.
Capi: And we should respect each other’s differences, even if we don’t always agree.
Beary: Right. Also, being patient and empathetic helps a lot. When we try to understand
how they feel, everything gets easier.
Capi: And maybe we can learn together—like we teach them some tech stuff, and they
teach us life skills. Shared activities always bring people closer.
Beary: Yeah, if both sides try a little, the generation gap won’t be such a big problem
anymore.
