What is it?
You have not become a Christian by living a Christian life. On the contrary, you live a

That's right. You have been born into a new life. New is new. God does not want to "patch" the old man or woman, nor
"to reshape it". Of course not. He wants to give you a new life. So being a disciple of Christ means, first of all,

To Be a Disciple
You Have to Commit Yourself to Christ
This is the second point. Look in your Bible Luke 14:33. Now read it. Do you

Investigate the following biblical texts and choose one that you wish to share with your
friends, to emphasize something about discipleship that seems important to you:

Mateo 10:16-25 Luke 8:1-3

Mateo 16:21-28 Luke 9:1-6
Mark 1:16-20 Luke 14:25-33
Mark 9:33-37 John 13:1-20
Luke 6: 27-36 Juan 13:31-35

Have you chosen a Bible verse to share in the cell group yet?
Which one is it?

Memorize Luke 14:33 and get ready to recite it in the cell.

A TRUE DISCIPLE
Neither Pharisee, Nor Activist, Nor Sentimental
Jesus was not the only one in those biblical times who had disciples. The Bible
it refers, for example, to the disciples of John the Baptist, some of the
which (Andrés and Pedro, in John 1:35-42) then decided to follow Jesus.

There were also people who although

they followed Jesus, they followed him from afar, or
only because I fed them, or
because they were looking for some kind of
personal benefit. Sure, you don’t
Do you want to be that type of disciple.
A Pharisee?
In the times of Jesus, the Jewish religion had
divided into several groups. Two of those mentioned in
the New Testament, are the Sadducees and the Pharisees.
Jesus discussed his teachings in various
opportunities with representatives of these sects.
Probably, the one you will remember the most is the cult of
the Pharisees. They constituted a zealous group of the
Word of God.
Look for Matthew 5:20 and complete the following sentence:

If your justice is not greater than that of the _________

__________ and __________, you shall not enter into

the kingdom of heaven.

Are these words of praise or criticism? _____________________. These
Jews called themselves 'disciples of Moses'. And they were indeed interested in knowing
all his teachings. Paul himself says with some pride that before
to know Christ, he was a Pharisee. And he says it as if to provide a background.
respectable.

What was then the problem of the Pharisees?

On a certain occasion when Jesus had one of his many confrontations with the
Pharisees, he provided you with the answer to this question. Read Matthew 23:1-13 and then
complete:

The Pharisees sit on the _______________ of _____________ (v.2)

They do things to be _____________________________ (v.5)
The Pharisees are ____________________________ (v. 13)

Here is the problem. The Pharisees KNEW a lot about the Bible, but
they practiced very little. And worse still, they left much to be desired regarding their
attitudes, because they were hypocritical.
TO KNOW what it says the

final passage of the Sermon on the Mount. Read them one

On another occasion, Jesus sent his disciples to all the cities and when
they returned, they were happy about the experiences they had had.
You can read this account in Luke 10:17-20.

Even to your enemies. You must be careful to think that what is done is the
most important. It's good, but not the most important.

Make works
it's good,
but NOT ENOUGH.

A sentimental one?
Read and meditate for a moment on Matthew 6:5-18. There Jesus, also as part
the Sermon on the Mount left you with some important teachings about what
to be a disciple of him.

Jesus refers in this passage to those who O__________ and A__________.

Like this person, there are many who misinterpret the Bible to satisfy their
human mysticism. They misinterpret the Bible and pretend to show through false
attitudes that are 'spiritual'. Jesus already taught that true spirituality
It does not consist in 'praying to be seen' nor in 'fasting to show oneself to men.'
That is hypocrisy.
