Problem Statement
Addiction to social media is a very common phenomenon among young people.

social, for that reason, it has caught my attention to investigate:

What are some symptoms of addiction?

What are the causes and consequences of addiction to social media?

How to overcome this phenomenon?

General objective
To know social media addiction, to know some of these, their
symptoms, causes, and consequences, in order to understand their effect on the
addicted individuals, through research that is truthful and proven,
applying surveys to the 11th grade students of Instituto Monserrat.

Specific objective
Mediante encuestas:

Identify the symptoms that a person has when becoming addicted.

To know some of the causes that are linked to addiction to social media.

Indicate the consequences that this may bring to the lives of the people who
they have that addiction.

Formulation of Hypotheses
Symptoms:

Low academic performance

Isolation
Spoilation of activities
Behavior change

Causes:

Neglect of the parents

Family problems
Poor communication with their environment

Lack of attention
Depression
To have fun
Lack of activities

Effects:

It affects our sight

It affects our thoughts
Loses interest in communicating face to face with someone.

Quantitative Approach:

I used the quantitative approach since a measured result is desired,

statistics, with statistical method, to do this the will be counted the
responses from the investigated as a quantity is wanted.

Type of Research:

Descriptive: The phenomenon will investigate some reviews or traits of the

object of study specifically to the 11th grade students.

Explanatory: The aim is to explain the reasons why this phenomenon occurs, in order to
try to understand the reality in which we live.

Correlational: The research will address the causes and effects of the
addiction to social media.

Research Methods:

Inductive: It will be used to understand the symptoms, causes, and consequences in the
11th grade students.
Hypothetical: Hypotheses are created and as the research progresses, they are
discarding the ones that don't fit.

Synthetic: To study the research, I will immerse myself in various aspects or

topics that stem from the main theme.

Technique:

I used the survey because I think it will give us a better result than
with the interview. In addition, the opinion of several people can be obtained from
same time or on the same topic.

Population and Sample:

The topic for the research or the phenomenon to investigate regarding addiction to
social networks among 11th grade students of the Monserrat Institute

population.

Social Networks are sites or platforms that allow us to communicate,
entertain us, inform us, and interact with the people around us,
where ideas and feelings can be expressed. It also allows to get to know
different people around the world. You can post or share things, and
this can define you as a person. According to Conde Mirin (2013) 'The connection

There are people who use social media only to cause harm to others.

people who only criticize and with that can cause a lot

There is a human being behind every tweet, blog, and email.

But something ironic is that sometimes those people who hurt us can be.

people become obsessed with the Internet, they show themselves unable to
control their use and can jeopardize their job and relationships. This

they were presented mainly during the pandemic, as we were all confined in
our homes and at that moment is when the addiction to social media skyrocketed.
Thanks to this, many adults and especially young people prefer
to communicate via the Internet instead of doing it face to face. This too
generated many insecurities in young people since most of the photos or
videos that were published were using filters (either to change

when activities started to be carried out normally, it caused them

most used during the pandemic). Also during the pandemic, young people had to

addicted to these, academically speaking many students us
we accommodated these as it was easier for some to receive them virtually and
for others it was more difficult. According to Ramírez Gil Esmerald (2021), it states that:

academic consequences.
