8. While at Anchor, the oow should:


a. Determine and plot the ship's position on the appropriate chart at
frequent intervals Yti.
b. Ensure that the status of main engines and other machinery is in
accordance with master's instructions '1c.i.

Reminder: If weather deteriorates, vessel must pick up anchor and proceed to sea and not remain at
anchor. Our recommendation is to pick up anchor when wind force is BF 6 and above. However,
Master to take into consideration the local conditions and regulations.

These routines should be carried out at any time when required and if there ,s doubt as to the
performance of the steering gear. Checks of steering equipment may also be required by coastal
States before entry into their waters. These checks are to be also entered in Deck Log.
Ensure Duty Engineer is present in the steering gear compartment while conducting these tests.
