Brief History
The nature of the Solar System began to be understood in
the second half of the 16th century. In 1580, the knowledge that
the understanding of the Sun and the planets underwent a drastic change and a
great boost.
In 1610, when the Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei used for
first time the telescope to look at the sky and study, among
other bodies, the Moon, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn.
Galileo discovered that Venus had phases, like those of our
satellite. Until 1781, it was believed that the Solar System consisted of
in a star and only six planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth,
Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.
Brief History (Cont.)
The orbit of Saturn was considered the outer limit
of the Solar System. From Earth, this planet is seen
like a shiny object, comparable to the stars and of
yellowish coloration. Following these findings,
they began to find the remaining planets as
Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
What is the Solar System
The Solar System is a planetary system of
the Milky Way galaxy that is located in one of
the arms of this one, known as the Arm of
Orion.
It is composed of the Sun and eight planets.
plus the set of bodies that orbit it
around just like the interplanetary space
understood among them. More than a thousand are known.
planetary systems orbiting around
other stars, and more than three stars in which
the presence of at least one has been detected
planet.
The Sun
The Sun is the star of
planetary system in the
where the Earth is;
therefore, it is the most
close to Earth and the
star with the greatest brightness
apparent. Their presence or
her absence in the sky
determinant
respectively, the day and
the night.
Mercury
It is the most planet
next to the Sun and the
smaller. It is
part of the
called planets
interior or rocky and
does not have satellites. It
knew very little about
the surface until
the probe was sent
Mariner 10 spacecraft.
Venus
It is the second planet of
Solar System in
distance and the fourth in
as for size. Receive
his name in honor of
Venus, the goddess of love.
It is a planet of
terrestrial or telluric type.
Earth
It is the third planet of
Solar System, in distance
to the Sun, and the fifth in
size. It is located
approximately about
150 million kilometers
of the Sun. It is the only planet
of the universe that is known
in which it exists and originates
life.
Mars
Apodado como el Planeta
Red is the fourth planet of
Solar System. It is part of
of the so-called planets
teluric (of nature)
rocky, like the Earth). It is the
last inner planet but
away from the Sun. In many
aspects, the most similar to
the Earth.
Asteroid Belt
Between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, there is a region of 550
millions of kilometers in which more than 18,000 orbit
asteroids. Some asteroids even have satellites that
they orbit around it. It has been proven that the belt of
asteroids are practically empty and that the distances that
they separate from one another, they are enormous.
Jupiter It is the fifth planet of
Solar System. It is part of the
outer planets or
gaseous. It gets its name
of the Roman god Jupiter. It is the
that offers greater brightness to it
length of the year depending on
its phase. It is the largest body
celestial bodies of the Solar System
after the Sun, with a mass
almost two and a half times that of
the other planets together.
The sixth planet of the System
Saturn
Solar, and the second in
size and mass. It is the only one
with a ring system
visible from our
planet. Its name comes from
of the Roman god Saturn. It is
part of the so-called
outer planets or
gaseous. The most striking aspect
Characteristic of Saturn are
their brilliant rings.
Uranus
Seventh planet of the System
Solar. It has an inclination.
from its axis of rotation of almost
90° with respect to its orbit.
Its surface is the most
uniform of the planets by
its characteristic blue color -
greenish, produced by the
gas combination of its
atmosphere. It has rings that
they cannot be observed at
simple view.
Neptune
It is the eighth and last planet.
of the Solar System. It is part of
the outer planets or
gas giants. It is the
first that was discovered
thanks to predictions
mathematics. Its name
comes from the Roman god of
but Neptune. It is a planet.
dynamic, with spots that
they remember the storms of
Jupiter.
A black hole is a hypothetical celestial body with a field
gravitationally so strong that not even radiation
electromagnetic can escape from its proximity.
The body is surrounded by a spherical boundary, called
event horizon, through which light can enter, but
He cannot go out, as it seems to be completely black.
A field of these characteristics may correspond to a
high-density body with a relatively small mass,
like that of the Sun or inferior, which is condensed in a volume
much smaller, or to a low-density body with a very mass
big, like a collection of millions of stars in the center
from a galaxy.
Conclusion
The solar system is
a marvel. For years
the man has tried to
understand so magnificent
creation, the precision of
the planetary orbits and
everything that consists.
Studies will continue and
discovery
trying to understand
with accuracy it
wonderful of our
galaxy.
