 LEICA VIVA CS10/CS15 USE TUTORIAL – RTK

Objetivo:Este material tem por finalidade apresentar configurações básicas para utilização
doLEICA VIVA CS10/CS15 & GS15 for RTK data collection.

When turning on the equipment, the following screen will be presented: which instrument would you like to use?

To create a new coordinate system, select New..

Enter the Name of the Coordinate System (name assigned by the user).
In our example, we will use the name UTM22-SIRGAS.

Next, access the box in Projection:, and request the option New..

Enter the requested data, according to the type of projection to be used.

In our example, we will use:

Type: UTM
UTM Zone: 22
Central meridian: 51º00'00.0000”W (automatically indicated according to time zone

 To create a new Transformation, access the box in Transformation and request
New..

In the General tab, enter the name of the Transformation. In our example: WGS84-SIRGAS.
In the Parameters tab, enter the requested values.
In our example, we used the WGS84 parameters for SIRGAS:
Translation dX: 0.000 m
Translation of dY: 0.000 m
Translation dZ: 0.000 m
Rotation X: 0.00000 m
Y Rotation: 0.00000 m

Scale: 0.0000 ppm

In the Advanced tab, select the Type of altitude and Model.

In our example we selected:
Type of altitude: Ellipsoidal
Model: Bursa-Wolf
After pressing Record.
After defining the Name, Transformation, Ellipsoid and Projection of the new System of
Coordinates, selectSave.

 RTK Base Configuration:

First, insert the SD card into compartment 1 of the antenna/receiver battery.

GS15.
On the main screen of SmartWorx Viva, we will first configure the RTK Base.
this, selectAt Work and afterBase menu

On the RTK Base menu screen, select the Instrument option, and then
select base settings.

On the Base settings screen, select Satellite config.

 On the Satellite Tracking screen, click on the Advanced tab. Set the Cut Angle, DOP.
limit, DOP limit value, L2CeSaúde satellite capture, as desired. After
configured to press OK.

From the RTK Base Menu, select Instrument again, Base Settings,
Configure raw data.
On the GPS Base Data Register screen, if you wish to also record the raw data for post-
processing, check the option Register base data for post-processing.
Remember that only static data is stored in the antenna's card compartment.
In this case, also configure the raw data recording rate (e.g. 1.0s) and the type of
data to be stored (e.g. Leica Format (MDB)).
After selecting OK.

 To set up the connection with the base antenna, from the RTK Base Menu, select
Instrumento,Conexões base.

Another way would be to select the second option Other connections.

On the screenConfig RTK base interface, select the optionRTK base sensor after selecting
Edit...

On the Connect to Base Sensor screen, check the Bluetooth option. Keep the GS15 antenna on.
After selecting Search for the controller to find the antenna. Check the ID Address.
from the antenna according to its serial number, select it and press OK.

 To confirm press OK.
To certify the Bluetooth connection, check if the Bluetooth light is indicating the
connection (dark blue color).

Configuration of the external radio Pacific Crest ADL:

Before starting this stage, connect the Y cable of the radio to port 2 of the antenna, to the battery and to
own radio. Assemble the other accessories and leave the radio on.
From the RTK Base Menu, select Instrument, Base Connections, Other connections.
In the screenConfig RTK Base Interface, select the optionRTK Base1 and after clicking on
Edit...
On the General tab:
MarkTransmit RTK info base
EmConnect using: selectGS Port 2
In RTK data format select Leica
After selecting the option Dispo...

On the Devices screen, select the Radio tab and check the Pac Crest ADL - Pac option.
Crest PDL. After pressing OK.
After setting up the screenConfig RTK Base (RTK1) as per the model below, press
OK.

 To return to the RTK Base menu select OK again.
To change the channel selectCntrl.. and indicate the channel to be used.

To initiate the data submission procedure, from the RTK Base Menu, select the
Option to Work!
To start the base on a point with known coordinates, select the option About
well known
Select the point from the list, or type the coordinates of the point. For the introduction of a
new point, select the list and click on New..

To change the information from Orthometric Height to Local Ellipsoidal Altitude, press the
button to select ellipse.
To change the coordinate system (Geodetic, Cartesian or Grid), select the
optionCoord. After entering the values press Save. Indicate the name of the Base antenna and
the measured height.

To switch to the mobile/rover, select Mobile.

 Enter profile details RTK (profile name description). After selecting Next.
On the screenConnection type, selectRadio. After pressingNext.

On the screenWhere is the device that receives RTK corrections?, selectPort 3 of

Sensor GSe mark the option Use external antenna. After pressing Next.
On the screen, Which device is being used?, select in the box Device name
Pac Crest ADL option. After pressing Next. Check the channel to be used according to the base.

Afterward, the connection status will be indicated. If any item is missing, check the items.

measurement quality (only position, only altitude, or position and altitude) from a

 The telaConf Raw Data Collection informs of the possibility to save the raw data.

If you wish to post-process the data, check the Data Logging option for post-

Save data in: You can choose whether to save the raw data in the Controller
or noSensor GS(Antenna).

To register data when:

Static: records only static points (ideal for collecting points only)
Static and kinematic: records both static and kinematic points (mandatory

 My measurement screen: Enables the presentation of information on the measurement screen.

 On the General tab, enter the Name, Description, and Author of the work. In the Device field,
indicate where the work will be saved (in the internal memory of the controller or on the SD Card).
In the Code List tab, select the desired Code List.

In the CAD Files tab, a dxf file can be attached.

In the coordSist tab, select the desired coordinate system (to carry out the
coordinate transformation if necessary).

In the Average tab, we will leave the Off Mode in this example. After configuring, select
Record.

 Measurement: This app allows for the measurement of the point.
For this, from the main Work screen, access The Work!
Note that the work to be used is described in Work.
On the Work screen!, select the Measurement option.

On the measurement screen, Survey tab, check if the radio correction icon is appearing
moving (lightning icon). Also check if the point has the solution symbol.
ambiguity (icon only crosshair). Check the accuracy of the point in Qualid 2D or Qualid 3D.
Confirm the point name, antenna height, and code to be used.
To occupy the point, select Occupy.
To stop the recording, select Stop.
To verify the point graphically, switch to the Map tab.
