Debate Topic: “Is Nature more important than Human Progress?

For the Motion (Yes, Nature is more important):

Respected judges, dear friends,

I stand strongly in favor of the motion. Nature is the foundation of our
existence. It gives us air to breathe, water to drink, and food to eat. It
teaches us beauty, balance, and harmony. What use is human progress
if the very Earth that sustains us is destroyed? Skyscrapers, machines,
and technology lose all meaning if we do not have clean rivers, fresh
air, and fertile soil. Progress without nature is a hollow victory.
Therefore, nature is — and will always remain — more important
than human progress.

Against the Motion (No, Human Progress is more important):

Honourable judges and friends,

I rise to oppose the motion. Human progress has transformed lives.
Science, technology, and innovation have given us medicines,
education, and comfort. Without progress, we would still be living in
caves, vulnerable to disease and disaster. While nature is essential, it
is progress that helps us protect, preserve, and even understand nature
better. Progress builds civilizations and ensures survival in ways
nature alone cannot. Thus, human progress is more important, for it
allows us to move forward and shape a better future.
