INTRODUCTION:

1. OOP’S

What is OOPs?

Object-oriented programming – As the name suggests uses objects

in programming. Object- oriented programming aims to implement
real-world entities like inheritance, hiding, polymorphism, etc. in
programming. The main aim of OOP is to bind together the data and
the functions that operate on them so that no other part of the
code can access this data except that function.
There are some basic concepts that act as the building blocks of OOPs i.e.
 Class
 Objects
 Encapsulation
 Abstraction
 Polymorphism
 Inheritance

Page No:
Characteristics of an Object-Oriented Programming
Language

Class
The building block of C++ that leads to Object-Oriented programming
is a Class. It is a user-defined data type, which holds its own data
members and member functions, which can be accessed and used by
creating an instance of that class. A class is like a blueprint for an object.
For Example: Consider the Class of Cars. There may be many cars with
different names and brands but all of them will share some common
properties like all of them will have 4 wheels, Speed Limit, Mileage range,
etc. So here, the Car is the class, and wheels, speed limits, and mileage
are their properties.
 A Class is a user-defined data type that has data members and member
functions.
 Data members are the data variables and member functions are the
functions used to manipulate these variables together these data
members and member functions define the properties and behavior
of the objects in a Class.
 In the above example of class Car, the data member will be speed limit,
mileage, etc. and member functions can apply brakes, increase speed,
etc.
We can say that a Class in C++ is a blueprint representing a group of
objects which shares some common properties and behaviors.

Page No:
Object:
An Object is an identifiable entity with some characteristics and
behavior. An Object is an instance of a Class. When a class is defined,
no memory is allocated but when it is instantiated (i.e. an object is
created) memory is allocated.
Objects take up space in memory and have an associated address like
a record in pascal or structure or union. When a program is executed
the objects interact by sending messages to one another. Each object
contains data and code to manipulate the data. Objects can interact
without having to know details of each other’s data or code, it is
sufficient to know the type of message accepted and the type of
response returned by the objects.
Encapsulation:

In normal terms, Encapsulation is defined as wrapping up data and

information under a single unit. In Object-Oriented Programming,
Encapsulation is defined as binding together the data and the functions
that manipulate them. Consider a real-life example of encapsulation,
in a company, there are different sections like the accounts section,
finance section, sales section, etc. The finance section handles all the
financial transactions and keeps records of all the data related to finance.
Similarly, the sales section handles all the sales-related activities and
keeps records of all the sales. Now there may arise a situation when
for some reason an official from the finance section needs all the data
about sales in a particular month. In this case, he is not allowed to
directly access the data of the sales section. He will first have to
contact some other officer in the sales section and then request him
to give the particular data. This is what encapsulation is. Here the
data of the sales section and the employees that can manipulate them
are wrapped under a single name “sales section”.

Encapsulation :

Encapsulation also leads to data abstraction or data hiding. Using

encapsulation also hides the data. In the above example, the data of any
of the sections like sales, finance, or accounts are hidden from any other
section.

Page No:
Abstraction:

Data abstraction is one of the most essential and important features of

object-oriented programming in C++. Abstraction means displaying only
essential information and hiding the details. Data abstraction refers to
providing only essential information about the data to the outside world,
hiding the background details or implementation. Consider a real-life
example of a man driving a car. The man only knows that pressing the
accelerator will increase the speed of the car or applying brakes will
stop the car but he does not know how on pressing the accelerator the
speed is actually increasing, he does not know about the inner
mechanism of the car or the implementation of an accelerator, brakes,
etc. in the car. This is what abstraction is.
Polymorphism
The word polymorphism means having many forms. In simple words, we
can define polymorphism as the ability of a message to be displayed in
more than one form. A person at the same time can have different
characteristics. A man at the same time is a father, a husband, and
an employee. So the same person possesses different behavior in
different situations. This is called polymorphism. An operation may
exhibit different behaviors in different instances. The behavior
depends upon the types of data used in the operation. C++ supports
operator overloading and function overloading.

Inheritance
The capability of a class to derive properties and characteristics from
another class is called Inheritance. Inheritance is one of the most
important features of Object-Oriented Programming.
 Sub Class: The class that inherits properties from another class is called
Sub class or Derived Class.
Page No:
 Super Class: The class whose properties are inherited by a sub-class is
called Base Class or Superclass.
 Reusability: Inheritance supports the concept of “reusability”, i.e. when
we want to create a new class and there is already a class that includes
some of the code that we want, we can derive our new class from the
existing class. By doing this, we are reusing the fields and methods of
the existing class.
Example: Dog, Cat, Cow can be Derived Class of Animal Base Class.

Python Exceptions
When a Python program meets an error, it stops the execution of the rest
of the program. An error in Python might be either an error in the syntax of
an expression or a Python exception. We will see what an exception is. Also,
we will see the difference between a syntax error and an exception in this
tutorial. Following that, we will learn about trying and except blocks and
how to raise exceptions and make assertions. After that, we will see the
Python exceptions list.

What is an Exception?

An exception in Python is an incident that happens while executing a

program that causes the regular course of the program's commands to be
disrupted. When a Python code comes across a condition it can't handle, it
raises an exception. An object in Python that describes an error is called an
exception.

When a Python code throws an exception, it has two options: handle the
exception immediately or stop and quit.

Page No:
Assertions in Python

When we're finished verifying the program, an assertion is a consistency

test that we can switch on or [Link] simplest way to understand an
assertion is to compare it with an if-then condition. An exception is thrown
if the outcome is false when an expression is [Link] are
commonly used at the beginning of a function to inspect for valid input and
at the end of calling the function to inspect for valid output.

Opening Files in Python
The open () Python method is the primary file handling function. The basic syntax
is:

The open () function takes two elementary parameters for file handling:

1. The file name includes the file extension and assumes the file is in the current
working directory. If the file location is elsewhere, provide the absolute or relative
path.

2. The mode is an optional parameter that defines the file opening method. The
table below outlines the different possible options:

Behavior Modes

Read r, r+, w+, a+, x+

Write r+, w, w+, a, a+, x+

Create w, w+, a, a+, x, x+

Pointer Position Start r, r+, w, w+, x, x+

Page No:
Behavior Modes

Pointer Position End a, a+

Truncate (clear contents) w, w+

Must Exist r, r+

Must Not Exist x, x+

Read Mode

The read mode in Python opens an existing file for reading, positioning the
pointer at the file's

To read files in binary mode, use:

f = open("<file name>", "rb")

Add + to open a file in read and write mode:

f = open("<file name>", "r+") # Textual read and write

f = open("<file name>", "rt+") # Same as above
f = open("<file name>", "rb+") # Binary read and write

Write Mode

Write mode creates a file for writing content and places the pointer at the
start. If the file exists, write truncates (clears) any existing information.
Page No:
To open a file for writing information, use:

f = open("<file name>", "w")

The default mode is text, so the following line is equivalent to the default:

f = open("<file name>", "wt")

To write in binary mode, open the file with:

f = open("<file name>", "wb")

Append Mode
While reading or writing to a file, access mode governs the type of operations
possible in the opened file. It refers to how the file will be used once it’s
opened. These modes also define the location of the File Handle in the file.

Append Only (‘a’): Open the file for writing.

Append and Read (‘a+’): Open the file for reading and writing.

When the file is opened in append mode in Python, the handle is positioned at
the end of the file. The data being written will be inserted at the end, after the
existing data

5. MySQL Connection

Connecting MySQL with Python:

To create a connection between the MySQL database and Python, the connect()
method of [Link] module is used. We pass the database details like
HostName, username, and the password in the method call, and then the method
returns the connection object.

Step 1: Download and Install the free MySQL database.

Step 2: After installing the MySQL database, open your Command prompt

Step 3: Navigate your Command prompt to the location of PIP.

Step 4: Now run the commands given below to download and install “MySQL
Connector”. Here, [Link] statement will help you to communicate with
the MySQL database.

Download and install “MySQL Connector”.

Step 5: Test MySQL Connector.

CHAPTER 5: OUTCOMES DESCRIPTION

Describe the work environment you have experienced (in terms of people interactions,
facilities available and maintenance, clarity of job roles, protocols, procedures, processes,
discipline, time management, harmonious relationships, socialization, mutual support and
teamwork, motivation, space and ventilation, etc.

In these four weeks of the training, they have provided us the training in Problem Solving by using
Competitive coding

 OOP’S Concepts
 Exception Handling
 File Handling
 MySQL Connection

1. OOPS: Object-oriented programming – As the name suggests uses objects in

like inheritance, hiding, polymorphism, etc. in programming. The main aim of OOP
is to bind together the data and the functions that operate on them so that no
other part of the code can access this data except that function

2. Exception Handling: Exception handling is the process of responding to unwanted

or unexpected events when a computer program runs. Exception handling deals with
these events to avoid the program or system crashing, and without this process,
exceptions would disrupt the normal operation of a program.

3. File Handling: File handling is an integral part of programming. File handling in

Python is simplified with built-in methods, which include creating, opening, and
closing files. While files are open, Python additionally allows performing various file
operations, such as reading, writing, and appending information.

4. MySQL Connection: MySQL Connector module of Python is used to connect MySQL

databases with the Python programs, it does that using the Python Database API
Specification v2. 0 (PEP 249). It uses the Python standard library and has no
dependencies.
