NETWORKING PRACTICAL
PRACTICAL
• Cabling and Standards
• Showing IP configuration of two computers and ipconfig/ ping command out
• Command output showing ipconfig and ping.
The RJ45 connector is commonly used for Ethernet networking and follows a
specif ic wiring standard. There are two main wiring standards: T568A and T568B.
Both standards define the arrangement of the 8 pins in the RJ45 connector.

STRAIGHT CABLING AND CROSSOVER CABLING
The Straight Through cable will use the same sequence order in both
side of a cable, either use the same T568A or T568B order. Normally,
T568B order has a better performance.

STRAIGHT
CABLING
Both Ends are Same (T568B – T568B or T568A –
T568A
Used to connect different devices such as:
PC -----> Switch
Router ------> Switch
IP Camera -------> NVR

CROSSOVER CABLING
The Crossover cable will use the opposite sequence order in different
sides, i.e., one side use T568A and another use T568A, or vice versa.

CROSSOVER CABLING
One end T568A, other end T568B
Used to connect similar devices directly :
PC -----> PC
Switch ------> Switch
NVR -------> NVR
Used rarely today, modern NIC has a features called Auto-
MDI/MDX
