Concrete System Building Design Analysis

The document outlines a series of steps for checking and analyzing a concrete building design model, including model verification, analysis execution, deflection and drift checks, and base shear calculations. It emphasizes the importance of ensuring that the design meets safety requirements and verifies the concrete frame design for potential failures. Additional checks for bending, shear, axial force, and torsion are also mentioned as part of the design validation process.

[Link] model:

After the placement of loads on the

slab the model is checked for any error. This
provides use the information whether the beam
or column are overlapping and moment release
are done and the model is checked for any
discontinuous joints.
[Link] analysis:
After the model is checked go-to
analyse and click the run analysis button for the
model to run. After the model is done the model
shows the deformation due to the loading.

[Link] check:

Even after the analysis the deflection should

be checked whether it’s in the permissible
limit or not. We should compare the value
with H/250 of the building.
Thus the deflection check is done.

[Link] check:

The drift should not exceed h/250 of the value.

Where h is the difference between the floor
heights of n th floor and n-1 th floor.
[Link] for base shear:

Total load on the building = (DL+SDL)+(0.5

LL>3+0.25 LL<3) x Area
=(3.75+3.8+(0.5*4))*56*20= 10696 kN per
floor (approx.) = 75872 kN
Ah calculated X dirn =Z/2xl/Rx Sa/g
=(0.16/2) x (1.2/5) x = 0.048
Ah calculated Y dirn
= Z/2 x \/R x Sa/g
= (0.16/2) x (1.2/5) x 2 = 0.038
Base shear Vh in X dirn= W X Ah
= 74872 x 0.048
= 3593 kN
Base shear Vh in Y dirn= W X Ah
= 74872 x 0.038 = 2875 Kn

Around 80-90% accuracy

[Link] frame design check :

Go-to design and check the design for any failure
and verify the concrete design for safe design. If
the design fails relocate the failed structures
according to the requirements so that it satisfies
the requirements for the structure to withstand the
load applied. Thus the model is analysed for
failures and load cases.
