Task 1 :
The table shows information about the proportion of female
managers and female workers in five different countries.
Australia and the United States have the highest
percentages of women in the workforce, at around 42–46%. The
proportion of female managers is also similar in these two
countries, both at 43%. However, in Sri Lanka, there is a
significant gap between the two figures: while 41% of the
workforce are women, only 9% work as managers.
Japan and Egypt also show a large disparity between the
percentage of female workers and female managers. In particular,
Egypt has the lowest figures in both categories, with just 20% of
women in the workforce and 12% in management roles.
These figures suggest that a high proportion of working
women does not necessarily translate to equal representation in
leadership roles.
Task 2:
In today’s world, advertising plays an important role in
economic growth as it helps many companies reach their
customers and assists people in finding what they need.
However, some argue that advertising has significant drawbacks
and can make individuals feel unhappy with themselves and their
belongings.
Advertising is a method that many companies use to
connect with customers and increase their sales. It can be seen
as a key driver of economic development because it boosts
production, creates jobs, and contributes to national income. For
example, companies like Apple and Nike use various types of
advertisements to promote their products, which often leads to
significant growth in revenue.
On the other hand, critics argue that advertising promotes
unrealistic standards and unnecessary desires. Many
advertisements suggest that owning certain products brings
success or happiness, which can make people feel insecure or
inadequate. This is especially harmful to young people, who are
more vulnerable to media influence. For instance, beauty product
ads often portray idealized images that may lower self-esteem
and encourage excessive spending.
In my opinion, while advertising supports economic activity,
it must be approached with caution. Governments and companies
should ensure that advertisements are truthful and socially
responsible to minimize potential harm.
In conclusion, advertising brings both economic benefits and
social drawbacks. A balanced approach that promotes ethical
advertising can help maximize its advantages while reducing
negative effects.
