Study Guide: Area, Volume, Surface Area,
and Perimeter Formulas:

Area Formulas:
1. Square:
A = s² (Side × Side)

2. Rectangle:
A = l × w (Length × Width)

3. Triangle:
A = 1/2 × b × h (1/2 × Base × Height)
4. Parallelogram:
A = b × h (Base × Height)

5. Trapezoid:
A = 1/2 × (b₁ + b₂) × h (1/2 × Sum of Bases
× Height)

6. Circle:
A = πr² (Pi × Radius²)

Volume Formulas:
1. Cube:
V = s³ (Side³)

2. Rectangular Prism:
V = l × w × h (Length × Width × Height)

3. Cylinder:
V = πr²h (Pi × Radius² × Height)

4. Sphere:
V = 4/3 πr³ (4/3 × Pi × Radius³)

5. Cone:
V = 1/3 πr²h (1/3 × Pi × Radius² × Height)

6. Pyramid:
V = 1/3 × Base Area × Height (1/3 × Area of
Base × Height)

Surface Area Formulas:

1. Cube:
SA = 6s² (6 × Side²)

2. Rectangular Prism:
SA = 2(lw + lh + wh) (2 × (Length × Width +
Length × Height + Width × Height))
3. Cylinder:
SA = 2πr² + 2πrh (2 × Pi × Radius² + 2 × Pi
× Radius × Height)

Perimeter Formulas:

1. Square:
P = 4s (4 × Side)

2. Rectangle:
P = 2(l + w) (2 × (Length + Width))

3. Triangle:
P = a + b + c (Sum of all sides)

4. Parallelogram:
P = 2(b + s) (2 × (Base + Side))
5. Regular Polygon:
P = n × s (Number of sides × Side length)

6. Circle (Circumference):
C = 2πr or C = πd (2 × Pi × Radius or Pi ×
Diameter)

Quick Tips:
- Area: Focus on 2D dimensions (base,
height, radius).
- Volume: Think in 3D—multiply the base
area by the height.
- Surface Area: Add up the areas of all
faces or surfaces.
- Perimeter: Sum of all sides or edges.
