The line graph illustrates the figure for goods that

transported in UK between 1974 and 2002.


Overall, the number of commodities transported by road,
by water and by pipeline rose despite fluctuation, while the
goods transported by rail were unchanged.
We can see that the figure for goods transported on road
started with the highest number, with about 70 million tonnes.
On the other hand, about 40 million tonnes of goods were
transported by water and rail. Pipeline was the least common
way to transport goods. However, in 1990, goods which were
transported by road, water and pipeline rose respectively to 80,
60 and 25 million tonnes, whereas those transported by rail
dove slightly to about 30 million tonnes.
In the next period from 1990 to 2002, after reaching the
peak in 1990 with more than 25 million tonnes, commodities
carried by pipeline decreased to 20 million tons in 1994 and was
unchanged until 2002. Till 2002, goods transported by road
increased nearly 20 million tons, from 80 to about 100 million
tons. Despite fluctuation, the number of goods transported by
water had a moderate growth and reached to 65 million tons in
2002. With the figure for goods which were transported by rail,
after falling down, these rose to 40 million tons, the similar
number with the number in 1974.
