A. Find the ordinates of a 6 hr unit hydrograph for the same basin, analytically. Also sketch this
unit hydrograph. What is the peak value of the discharge in this unit hydrograph and at what time
does the peak value occur?
B. Derive the flood hydrograph in the catchment due to the storm given below:

The storm loss rate ( index) for the catchment is estimated as 0.25 cm/h.
C. Derive the ordinates of a 2-hr and 12 hr unit hydrograph for the same catchment.
2. For a data of maximum recorded annual floods of a river the mean and the standard
deviation are 4200m3/s and 1705m3/s respectively. Using gumbel’s extreme value
distribution, estimate the return period of 9500m3/s. assume an infinite sample side.

8) The following observation was made on a 30 cm diameter well in an unconfined aquifer. Rate
of pumping was 1500 lpm, Test wells are at a distance of 30 m and 60 m with drawdowns of 1.5
m and 0.6 m. The depth of water table in the well before pumping was 40 m. determine the
radius of influence (R) and coefficient of permeability (K), and Sw.
9) A fully penetrating well in a confined aquifer is being pumped at a constant rate of 2000Lpm.
The aquifer is known to have a storage coefficient of 0.005 and transmissibility of 480m2/day.
Find the drawdown at a distance of 3.0m from the production well after
a) One hour
b) Eight hours after pumping
10) A drainage basin comprising seven sub catchments as shown below. Determine the required
capacity of the storm sewer EB draining subarea Ш for a five year return period storm. This sub
catchment has an area of 4 acres, a run coefficient of 0.6 and an inlet time of 10 minutes.
