REFLECTION:
As I listened to our interviewee, I realized how different the role of a public health nurse (PHN)
is compared to that of a hospital nurse. I learned that PHNs need to be more skilled in
communication since they are directly involved in promoting health and preventing disease
within the community.

Unlike hospital nurses, PHNs often interact with many individuals, including healthy people, and
much of their work involves documentation and recording. I also realized that in public health
nursing, when an individual needs help—such as with administering medication—even if it is
not usually part of their role, a PHN sometimes has to take initiative to assist rather than let the
client worry or suffer.

Another important point I observed is that public health centers often face shortages of medicines
and equipment. I believe that municipalities should pay more attention to addressing these issues
to ensure better health services for their constituents.

Our interviewee also shared that she encounters individuals from all walks of life. I noticed that
people from higher social status tend to be more health-seeking compared to those below the
poverty line, who may hold certain beliefs or hesitations. This shows the importance of
strengthening health promotion programs that educate communities and provide them with
accurate information so they will not fear medicine or immunization.

Lastly, I realized the importance of being understanding, especially toward individuals from
low-income backgrounds. As our interviewee mentioned, if health workers show genuine
compassion and understanding, the community will be more likely to appreciate the services
provided and develop trust in health programs.

As I was hearing our interviewee, I realize how different public health nurse from a hospital
nurse. I realize that, PHN schould be better at communication and also they implement the
phrase health promotion and disease prevention of the community.

PHN are more likely to face many individuals than hospital nurses because they meet well
individuals, as per health nurses they are more on recording or documenting of the order. I also
realize in PHN that when an individual needed help specifically in administering medication
although it's prohibited you need to move or initiate to help the client than letting them worry or
suffer.

I realize that public center do really have shortage of medicines, equipments sometimes and I
think that the municipality should take more attention to that for their constituents good health.

And our interviewee said that she faced individuals of all status within the community. I also
realize that there are more people with high status who are health seeking than people below the
poverty line, because they have beliefs and such, I think we should also implement a health
promotion programs to educate the community and provide information for them so that they'll
not be scared of taking medicine or immunization.

And lastly, we should be more understanding specially for individuals who are below the poverty
line to promote their health, because our interviewee said that if we our understanding towards
our community, they'll appreciate the help we implement and trust us when it comes to health
seeking.
