COURSE DESCRIPTION
• This course is designed to increase students’ awareness of the
different theoretical approaches to leadership; leadership styles and
encourage a basic understanding of the practices of leadership. The
course also prepares you for any leadership role you may have, now
or in the future and improve your skills in the group contexts.
• This course will be conducted with a variety of teaching techniques
including lectures, cases, assessments, articles, class discussions, and
experiential exercises.

EVALUATION
• Participation: 10%
• Mid-term assessment: 30%, including:
o Interview a Leader (15%) – in group of two students
o Self-Presentation as a Leader (15%) - individual
• Final Exam (written): 60%
MID-TERM ASSESSMENT 1
• Interview a Leader (15%) – in group of two students: You are to select
someone who serves in a position of significant leadership for this assignment. This
person could be a relative if that person is in a leadership position– the CEO of a
corporation, managing partner of a firm, political figure, university administrator,
mentor of youth (president of university clubs not recommended), director of a
major program, and so on. You are to interview this individual for a minimum of
30-45 minutes to find out about their views of leadership. Your interview should
include such things as their leadership philosophy, strengths and weaknesses as a
leader, major challenges faced regarding leadership, some joys and pains associated
with the job, and also specific advice for you as to what helps the most in
developing as a leader.
• Write up the results of what you learned in a paper. Describe what you
discovered, as well as themes that emerged, and connect this understanding with
material discussed in the text and in class. Length: 4-6 pages. (do not exceed)
• Make sure to include these information: students’ name, student IDs; and name,
title and contact information of the interviewee on the front cover page, and
attach a photo in the end as the evidence of the interview.
MID-TERM ASSESSMENT 1
• Form of submission: 1 Hard copy
• Presentation format: the report is presented on A4 paper; font
size: 13; font: Times New Roman; top, bottom, left, right margins:
2.5cm, 2.5cm, 2.5cm, 2cm; line spacing 1.15.
• Date of submission: 4 June, 2025
MID-TERM ASSESSMENT 2
• Self-Presentation as a Leader (15%)
• Each student will have an opportunity to present a 2.5 minute (do not
exceed 3 min.) prepared TED Talk in front of the class about one of
the three themes:
1. Should I become a leader?
2. The leader that I want to become.
3. The leader in me.
Talk can not be read, however you can use notes.

CLASS POLICY
• Be punctual – I will check attendance randomly. Each
absence without excuse = -0.5 participation.
• Prepare for class by reading the text/assigned materials
before coming to class
• Participate in discussions, contribute opinion in class à
Bonus points adding to mid-term score
• Notify me by e-mail in advance if you can't attend the class
• Be attentive, active and cooperative in class
