Structure of the Assignment
• Introduction: Review and Key Issues
• review the relevant literature of your chosen topic area and identify key issues
• Needs analysis
• explain how you identified the needs of a chosen group of learners, and how
you used diagnostic tests to establish learning priorities
• Course proposal
• design a course of at least 20 hours and provide a rationale for the objectives,
organisation, methodology and materials
• Assessment proposal
• explain how the course will be assessed and evaluated
• Conclusion
• outline how the proposed course design relates to the issues identified in the
introduction.

Word limits
The assignment must not exceed 4500 words. The recommended
length of the component parts is as follows:
• Introduction: Review and Key Issues 1100
• Needs analysis 900
• Course proposal 1100
• Assessment proposal 1000
• Conclusion 400

Organising your Module 3 work
• Input sessions will focus on each area in turn.
• Your tutor will then help you plan your work and draft each section
of the assignment.
• Your tutor will review your work and give you feedback on each
section, so that you can redraft it.
• At the end, you will have a couple more meetings with your tutor
to review the whole assignment.
• Module 3 Assignments are submitted to Cambridge at the
beginning of June or at the beginning of December each year.
