Throughout Unit II, it has really opened my eyes to things I never thought
about before. I went into this topic thinking entrepreneurship was just about
owning a business or making money, but now I see that it’s also about
understanding yourself, your mindset, and how you work with others. This
unit made me think deeply about who I am, what I am good at, and where I
need to grow as a person and an entrepreneur.
In Session 1, I learned about the qualities of an entrepreneur as we did two
self-assessments that honestly made me stop and reflect on me as a
individual. The SWOT analysis was the most personal one for me. Writing
down my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats made me realize
that I have a lot of potential, but I also hold myself back sometimes. It made
me realise that my main strengths are creativity, patience as well as my
confidence and belief in myself that I can do anything through Christ as I am
not only someone who believes in luck but my blessings in Jesus as a strong
follower. I enjoy coming up with new ideas and I don’t give up easily once I
start something. But one big weakness is that I sometimes overthink and
doubt my decisions, especially when I’m unsure if something will work out,
but I often remind myself of a very beautiful verse, Isaiah 60:22 which states
“When the time is right, I the Lord shall make it happen” which is something I
strongly follow and believe in as I am very sure that nothing happens until
the Lord believes it is time for it to happen.
Learning about the growth mindset vs the fixed mindset really hit me. I
realized that I’ve sometimes had a fixed mindset, thinking that if I’m not
good at something, I’ll never be good at it. But this unit showed me that
growth comes from effort and mistakes. Failing doesn’t mean you can’t
succeed, it just means you’re learning. That was a big lesson for me, not only
for entrepreneurship but also for life.
In Session 2, I learned about the difference between a solopreneur and an
entrepreneur. Before, I thought being your own boss and doing everything
alone sounded great, but now I understand the value of teamwork. I realized
that I enjoy collaborating with others more than working solo because
hearing different perspectives makes ideas stronger. The lessons on building
and managing the right team showed me that being a good leader is about
trust, respect, and communication, NOT control. I liked learning about the
four management functions (planning, organizing, leading, and controlling)
because they helped me see that even creative ideas need structure to
succeed.
One of my favorite parts of this unit was the survival activity, because it
made me think about decision making and how people’s different strengths
come together when working as a team. It reminded me that in life, just like
in business, success often depends on how well people can work together
and support each other.
Overall, this unit taught me a lot about myself and a lot on how to IMPROVE
myself. I learned that I do have an entrepreneurial spirit, but I still need to
take more initiative. I also realized that being an entrepreneur isn’t only
about business it’s about believing in yourself, being willing to grow, and
helping others grow too. I’m leaving this unit feeling more inspired,
motivated, and aware of what I’m capable of.
