INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT

Impact of computers and internet, on our lives today is probably much more

than we really Getting information and quickly turning it into a product that

consumers want is the essential key to staying in business and all of this is done

nowadays using computers and applications or information stems. And the

information systems will continue to change businesses and the way we live.

Many corporate leaders are using technology to manage every aspect of their

organization, from product creation to customer service. It has brought

evolution in almost every field, it changed the ways of teaching, administration

of activities such as e-learning, e-library and online portals where teachers and

students communicate, and sharing of information has never been better.

Student result declaration and management are amongst the most important

activities within a School or any educational institution, since all other activities

depend on it. Hence implementing an Information system can be declared a

significance result.
OBJECTIVE OF PROJECT

Libre office project: Student Result Management System

The main objective of this research is to enhance and automate the management
and declaration of students’ results using a computerized system. Its provide the
examination result to the student in a simple way. This project is useful for
institutions for getting the results in simple manner.

Hardware And Software Requirement


Specification:-
OS: Microsoft Windows (Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista,
Windows 7, Windows 8”)
RAM: 256 Megabytes RAM (512 MB RAM recommended)
At least 650 Megabytes available disk space for a default install (including a
JRE) vía download. After installation and deletion of temporary installation
files Apache LibreOffice will use approximately 440 Megabytes disk space.
MONITOR:-1024×768 or higher resolution with at least 256
colours Software:- LibreOffice

MAIN COMPONENTS OF STUDENTS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:


Student Result Management System will have the following components.
Marks Table:- This table will store the results of the students of a class. Student
Contact Table:- This table will store the address and contact details of the
students of a class .
Relationship:- Both the tables (Marks Tab and Student Contact) will be linked
to each other using Relationships.
PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
1) DATABASE CREATION
• Open LibreOffice Base.
• Select New Database and click Next.
• In the next dialogue, select Yes to register the database. Ensure
that Open the database for editing is also selected.
• You may choose to Create tables using the table wizard to
immediately set up a table in the new database. Alternatively, this
can be done later.
• Click Finish. LibreOffice Base will prompt you to save the
database to your local computer. Provide a name for the database file
and save it.
The LibreOffice Base file format is .odb, which stands for
OpenDocument Database (ODB) file format.
2) TABLE CREATION
Open your database in LibreOffice Base.
Go to the Tables section.
Select Create Table in Design View to manually define your
table structure, or choose Use Wizard to Create Table for a guided
setup.
In the design view, enter a Field Name, Field Type, and optional
Description for each column.
Right-click the field you want as the Primary Key and set it as
such.
Click Save or press Ctrl + S to save the table, then provide a name
for it.
Open the table from the Tables section to start entering data
directly.
ESTABLISH RELATIONSHIPS
Go to the Tools menu and select Relationships.
In the Relationships window, click Add Tables. Choose the tables
you want to relate and click Add for each. When finished, click
Close.
Drag a field from one table to the matching field in another table to
create a relationship (e.g., CustomerID in a Customers table to
CustomerID in an Orders table).
The Relations dialogue will appear, allowing you to set the
relationship type and enforce referential integrity by checking options
like Update Cascade or Delete Cascade if needed.
Click OK to save the relationship.
Close the Relationships window and save the changes.
Creating forms
Open your database and go to the Forms section in the left-hand
menu.
Click on Use Wizard to Create Form.
In the Form Wizard, select the table or query you want to use for
the form.
Choose the fields to include in the form by moving them from
Available Fields to Fields in the Form.
Click Next and follow the prompts to configure additional settings,
such as form layout, data entry options, and navigation controls.
After customizing the form, click Finish.
Provide a name for the form and save it.
Adding sample data via SQL
Creating Query
Open the database, and on the left-hand menu, click “Queries”. Here
you have three options:
▪ Create a query in the design view
▪ Create using wizard
▪ Create using SQL
QUERIES:
LIMITATIONS

• There seem to be issues using this app in Windows 10. It

worked fine when we used it on Windows? But after we

upgraded the network with NEW Win 10 computers, it cakes

a very long time to process commands.

• It will not allow any upgrade


• Not the best solution for larger or complex documents
• Doesn’t integrate well with third party software and applications
• Not as good as MS Office for document sharing
and collaboration

• Project works smoothly with less volume of data, but


once increase data it will slow in process

• Poor User Interface


• Project Creation takes times
