TO GET.
The verb GET can have some meanings depending on the word it is with.
Here are five of the basic meanings.
1. GET + Place = Arrive.
Ex: I get home late every night. Her flight gets here at 10
P.M..
2. GET + Object = Buy, Obtain.
Ex: He can get a new suit, he is rich. We´re getting a word
processor for the office.
3. GET + Thing = Receive.
Ex: When people are sick, they get flowers and cards.
4. GET + Adjective = Become.
Ex: Many people get fat in December. Gabriela can get angry if you
said that.
5. GET + Preposition = Assume the possition.
Ex: Get out, Get down, Get in.....
EXERCISE A. in the following sentences, substitute the proper phrase with
a form of to get for the words in italics. Ex: He can become angry with us if
we go early.
