Rectangular Grease Trap Sizing Guide

The document provides guidelines for sizing rectangular grease traps according to the number of daily meals and the location of use. It specifies that the volume of the retention chamber should be calculated using the formula V = (2 x N) + 20, where N is the number of people served and V is the volume in liters. It also lists minimum dimensions for grease traps used in places such as restaurants and hospitals.

Rectangular Grease Trap

As requested and according to ABNT - NBR 8160/99, the Grease Traps must be
sized taking into account the number of daily meals and the place of use.

For the collection of more than twelve kitchens, or for kitchens in restaurants, schools,
hospitals, barracks, clubs, etc. should use the special grease trap with the following
dimensions: minimum distance between the septum and the outlet = 0.20m; the volume of the retention chamber
of fat obtained by the formula [V = (2 x N) + 20], where N is the number of people served
through the kitchens that contribute to the grease trap during the shift with the highest flow and V is the
volume em litros; altura molhada = 0,60m; parte submersa do septo = 0,40m e diâmetro nominal
minimum of the outlet pipe = DN 100mm.

FOR EXAMPLE: assuming that a kitchen serves approximately 150 meals daily
the volume of the grease trap should be calculated as follows:
Nº de refeições diária - N = 150 refeições/dia
Volume: V = (2 x N) + 20
V = (2 x 150) + 20
V = 320 liters
Rectangular Grease Box - Dimensions:

length = Bmeters
largura =Ametros
altura = variável (sendo a altura molhada = 0,60 metros)

The dimensions A and B are variables and depend on the required volume.
