Tutorial 3: Exercise – Software
Methodologies
Exercise 1: (20-30 min)
Tutor lead Q&A session
Name 3 traditional software processes and 3 contemporary ones and briefly
discuss. Encourage students to focus on the self-study slides from lecture.
Exercise 2: (20-25 min)
Read the London Ambulance System case study provided on Moodle for this
week
Discuss within your tutorial group (tutor lead discussion with the whole group)
and answer the following question:
• From a Software engineering process point of view, what problems did
the London Ambulance Computer-Aided Dispatch System might have
encountered to contribute to its failure?
Exercise 3: CW groups (4-5 students) to be finalized
Tutors will form CW groups if they were not created already. Each CW group
will be acting as a software house and the client will be your tutor. (You can
give a name to your software house)
Exercise 4: (20-30 min) – work in groups
Read the Around London Book Stores case study provided on Moodle for this
Discuss within your group the following:
• Consider how you may advise Around London Book Stores as to which
development process they should employ in developing their system.
Within your answer compare at least two software development
approaches of your choice.
Present to the class your findings.
Exercise 5: (The rest of the tutorial time)
Within your software house (CW group) read and discuss the CW specification.
Ask the client any clarifications that you may need.

Each member of a coursework group must attempt Deliverables 1) a) of the
