Android Citra Install Guide

This document will explain the fastest method to install Photonic Sun or Prismatic Moon, using
Citra’s layeredFS feature. You won’t need any extra tools, and there’s no need to extract or build
any cia files, so this won’t take long. There are a couple of extra steps required on Android, as
Citra won’t create the required folders for you.
Prerequisites:
You’ll need a clean* copy of Pokémon Ultra Sun or Pokémon Ultra Moon, and a cia copy of the
1.2 title update for your chosen game (the Ultra Moon update won’t work with Ultra Sun, and
vice versa).
NOTE: This guide refers to a “[Link]” file in some steps. The Standard versions of the hack
don’t include this file, so you can ignore all mentions of it if you’re playing one of them.
Follow the steps below to install the mod:
1. Choose a version of the hack (Rebalanced or Standard), then right-click that version’s
folder and select “Download”. This should download a single compressed file.
2. Unzip the file.
3. Open the “luma” folder from the Photonic Sun or Prismatic Moon download pack and
navigate to the title ID folder. This folder will be named “00040000001B5000” or
“00040000001B5100” depending on your game version. Inside this folder you’ll see a
folder named “romfs” and a file named “[Link]”. Leave this window open for later.

4. On your phone, open Citra and accept any prompts it gives you.
5. There should now be a folder named “citra-emu” on your internal storage. Open this, then
create a folder in it named “load”.
6. Create another folder in “load” named “mods”.
7. Copy the title ID folder (the one with all the numbers in its name) from the hack’s files to
the “mods” folder on your phone.
8. Install the title update for Pokémon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon: in Citra, select File -> “Install
CIA...” and navigate to your copy of the title update. Once it’s done installing, you
should see “ver. 1.2” on the Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon icon, which indicates that the
update has been installed successfully. The update must be installed for the hack to
work.
9. That’s it! Launch your game and Kukui should welcome you to whichever version you’re
playing.
NOTE: Kukui’s intro has only been edited for the English language setting. If you want to play
in another language but aren’t sure if the hack is set up properly, start the game in English first to
check for the intro changes. If they’re there, chances are the hack is working. You can then reset
the game and choose your desired language.
*If you’re updating from a cia version of the hack, that can be used instead, but a clean copy is
preferable if you have one.
Uninstallation
To uninstall the hack, simply open up the “mods” folder again and delete everything in it.
