Project Management Test

Congratulations on making this far in the selection process!

Next step is for us to vet your project management skills. There are no right or wrong answers and any
tool can be utilized to aid you in how you would solve some of the issues mentioned below.

These exercises are designed to provide information but not all of it. As with any project, many
questions will arise from planning and we encourage that you include questions you would like to ask in
the answers so they can be part of the evaluation. If you must make assumptions to be able to complete
your planning, please note which assumptions were made and why.

Good luck!

Question 1

The studio has a need to create a project plan that has the highest probability of being delivered on time
and on quality. The phase in which you are starting the project is the design phase or Gate 0. Budget is
already arranged. Here are the parameters:

- Methodology: Scrum
- Resources available: 25 pax
- Timeline: 45 weeks
- Current estimates:
o 1000 points of work divided in:
 10% in C++
 40% in Online
 30% in UI
 15% in TA
 5% in Art
- Velocity: As you are part of a new team, the velocity of your team is not proven out yet. The
only piece of information you have is that the parent studio you are part of has a velocity of 13
points per person/per sprint.
- Dependencies: Based on your experience you are aware that different disciplines depend on
each other. Here are a few dependencies to start with:
o TA (Technical Artist) work cannot begin before UI work.
o Online and C++ need to happen in tandem.
o Any others you can think of?

This exercise can be delivered in any method desired (Excel, screenshot of Trello, Jira, MS Project, etc).
Question 2

The previous project is about to head into Alpha, it is now feature complete. Please provide us with a
plan to fix bugs and be ready for final submission. This bug plan should demonstrate the information you
feel would be the most valuable to track progress and quality for the game. Here are the parameters:

- Bugs projected: 1500 bugs

- Timeframe to be at 0 bugs: 12 weeks
- Resources available: 20 pax
- Velocity: As you are part of a new team, the velocity of your team is not proven out yet. The
only piece of information you have is that the parent studio you are part of has a velocity of
1bug per day/per person.
- Overtime budget approved: 2 hours per day/per person

This exercise can be delivered in any method desired (Excel, screenshot of Trello, Jira, MS Project, etc).

Question 3

How would you communicate those plans to your managers? Please send a sample of weekly report you
feel would be the best way to relay important information about either the project plan or bug plan to
your superiors and how you would word it. For this exercise, feel free to use whatever phase of the
project/alpha you would like.
