Class 10 Mathematics – Formula Sheet (Till Trigonometry)

1. Real Numbers
• Euclid’s Division Lemma: a = bq + r, 0 ≤ r < b

• HCF × LCM = a × b

• Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic: Every composite number can be expressed as a

product of primes (unique factorization).

2. Polynomials
• Remainder Theorem: Remainder = p(a) when divided by (x – a)

• Factor Theorem: If p(a) = 0, then (x – a) is a factor

• Sum of zeroes (α + β) = –b/a

• Product of zeroes (αβ) = c/a

3. Pair of Linear Equations

• General form: a1x + b1y + c1 = 0, a2x + b2y + c2 = 0

• One solution: a1/a2 ≠ b1/b2

• Infinite solutions: a1/a2 = b1/b2 = c1/c2

• No solution: a1/a2 = b1/b2 ≠ c1/c2

• Cross-multiplication: x/(b1c2 – b2c1) = y/(c1a2 – c2a1) = 1/(a1b2 – a2b1)

4. Quadratic Equations
• Standard form: ax² + bx + c = 0

• Roots: x = (-b ± √(b² – 4ac)) / 2a

• Nature of roots: Δ = b² – 4ac → Δ>0 (real & distinct), Δ=0 (real & equal), Δ<0 (no real
roots)

• Sum of roots = –b/a, Product of roots = c/a

5. Arithmetic Progression (AP)

• nth term: an = a + (n – 1)d

• Sum: Sn = n/2 [2a + (n – 1)d] or Sn = n/2 (a + l)

6. Triangles
• Pythagoras theorem: (Hypotenuse)² = (Base)² + (Perpendicular)²

• Basic Proportionality Theorem: If a line || one side of a triangle, it divides the other two
sides proportionally.
• Similarity criteria: AAA, SAS, SSS

• Area ratio of similar triangles = (ratio of corresponding sides)²

7. Trigonometry
• sinθ = Perpendicular/Hypotenuse

• cosθ = Base/Hypotenuse

• tanθ = Perpendicular/Base

• cosccθ = 1/sinθ, secθ = 1/cosθ, cotθ = 1/tanθ

• Identities: sin²θ + cos²θ = 1, 1 + tan²θ = sec²θ, 1 + cot²θ = cosec²θ

θ Sin θ Cos θ Tan θ Cot θ Sec θ Cosec θ
