DESCRIPTION
History of Volleyball
Volleyball was created on February 9, 1895 by William George Morgan in the States
United States of America. Morgan's goal was to create a team sport without
physical contact between opponents, in order to minimize the risk of injuries.

In 1947, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) was founded. Two years later
in the evening the first World Volleyball Championship was held. At that time there was only the

men's event. In 1952, the event was also extended to women's volleyball.
In 1964, volleyball became part of the Olympic Games program, having-
has been maintained to this day.

Rules
To play volleyball, 12 players are needed, equally divided into two.
teams of six players each.

The teams are divided by a net. After the serve, the ball must cross the
network and follow to the opponent's field where players try to prevent the ball from falling
in your field using any part of the body (previously it was not valid to use limbs of the

waist down, but the rules have changed). The player can send the ball to
the opposing field being allowed to make three touches on the ball before it passes,
always alternating the players who make the touches. If the ball falls, it's a point.

adversary.

The player can touch the net (as long as it does not interfere with the progress of the game),

except on the top edge (screen). The same player cannot make 2 or more touches
followed in the ball, exception in the case of a block.

Volleyball

Field
It is rectangular, measuring 18 x 9 meters, with a net in the middle placed at
a variable height, depending on the sex and category of the players (example of
seniors and juniors: male -2.43 m; female 2.24 m.

There is a line 3 meters parallel to the net line, on both sides, and a distance of 6.
meters to the end of the field. Making a field extension of 18 meters from end to end.
the tip is 9 meters from side to side.

It is made up of 12 players:

Equipment
Volleyball matches are contests involving two teams played in a gymnasium.
covered or outdoors, as desired.

The field measures 18 meters in length by 9 in width (18 x 9 meters), and it is

divided by a central line. The main objective is to score points by hitting the ball
touching the ground or leaving the playing area after being touched by an opponent.

Above the center line, there is a net made of synthetic material, placed at a height
variable.

In volleyball, all boundary lines are considered an integral part of the

field. Thus, a ball that touches the line is considered "in" (valid), and not
"fora" (invalid). Above the field, the airspace is defined laterally by
two rods placed at each end of the net. In the vertical direction, the
the only limits are the physical structures of the gym.

If the ball touches one of the rods or the physical structures of the gym, the point will go
automatically to the opponent of the last player who touched it.

curiosities...
The ball used in volleyball matches is made of leather or synthetic leather and measures
approximately 65 cm in perimeter. It weighs around 270g and should be inflated with
compressed air at a pressure of 0.30 kg/cm².

Volleyball

Game
At the beginning of each set, the player in position 1 serves and hits the ball.
ball with the hand intending to make it cross the airspace delimited by the two
sticks and fall into the opposing field. The opponents must then return the ball.
touching it no more than three times, and avoiding that the same player touches it twice

consecutive times.

The first contact with the ball after the serve is called reception, and its first
the goal is to prevent it from reaching a valid area of the field. It usually follows
the pass, which tries to place the ball in the air in order to allow a third player
execute the attack, that is, hit it in such a way that it crosses into the field of
opponent, thus winning the point.

At the moment the opposing team is about to attack, the players occupying the
positions 2, 3, and 4 can jump and extend their arms, in an attempt to prevent or
to make it difficult for the ball to pass over the net. This movement is called
blocking, and it is not allowed for the other three athletes who make up the remainder of the

team.

In technical terms, players in positions 1, 6, and 5 can only hit the

the ball above the height of the net towards the opponent's court if they are at the 'back'
from his own field. To attack from the back, the athlete must jump without touching the ground with his feet.

line of three meters or in the area defined by it; the subsequent contact with the ball,
however, it can occur in the frontal airspace.

After the opponent's attack, the player seeks to intercept the ball's trajectory with the
arms or with other parts of the body to prevent it from touching the ground. It is obtained

success, it is said that a defense was made, and new passes and attacks follow. The game
