Definition of Software

Software is a set of instructions that tells the computer what to do.


Unlike hardware, software cannot be touched; it is stored inside the
computer. It helps us use the computer to type, play games, watch
movies, or browse the internet.

Types of Computer Software

There are two main types of software: System Software and


Application Software.

1. System Software: This type of software controls the computer


and helps it run smoothly.

2. Application Software: This type of software is used to do tasks


like typing, drawing, or playing games.

Examples of Computer Software

1. Examples of system software include Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android,


iOS.
2. Examples of application software includes Microsoft Word, PowerPoint,
CorelDraw, WhatsApp, Zoom, and games.
