TITLE: “The Last Bell”

(12-minute short film script)

SCENE 1 – OUTSIDE SCHOOL GATE (0:00 – 1:00)


Visual: Early morning. Sunlight hits an almost empty road.
SFX: Bell ringing faintly in the distance.
Adrik (16), slightly messy hair, pedals furiously on his cycle.
#RUSHING ON HIS CYCLE LOOKING AT HIS WATCH GIVING THE REMARK HE IS LATE

Adrik (VO)
“AGAIN,AAJ BHI LATE HOGYA MEIN, I HOPE THEY DONT CLOSE THE GATE!.”
He skids into the school gate. The guard, Mishra Sir, looks at him with a smirk.
Mishra ji , I am very sorry , kaal se pakka late nhi hoga
Guard
Arre wah, Mr. Adrik! Last day of school life… (camera pans to adrik’s face/face reveal) and still
late? Kuch toh tradition maintain kiya tumne.
Adrik(shocked)
Sorry, Mishra Sir… woh cycle ka tyre—
Guard (cuts in)
Haan haan, excuses department ka CEO tum hi ho. Chalo, jao. Last day hai… enjoy it.
Adrik smiles, breathless, and enters.

SCENE 2 – SCHOOL CORRIDOR / CLASSROOM (1:00 –


2:00)
Adrik rushes through corridors.
As he enters the classroom—
CLASS TEACHER(sanchari mam)- ROLL NUMBER 4 ADRIK BHATTACHARJEE, ADRIK?,
ADRIK!
ADRIK: SLIDES AND AND SAYS “PRESENT MAAM” ++
TEACHER : Again you are late! (class laughs)(aura—)

The Maths teacher is writing something on the board.
Supro whispers loudly.
Supro
Guys, last day. Should we even pretend to understand maths?
Ritwik (dead serious whisper)
Speak for yourself. I actually like this chapter.
Everyone stares at Ritwik.
Adrik
Ritwik… it’s the last day. Relax. Even Pythagoras is chilling today.
Guys am I the only one who can smell chips over here
DEBZZ: (pops into the frame, WANT SOME?(khete khete)
ADRIK: it’s only the second period and you are you already hungry!
SURPO: She’s always hungry, do you have a peth or a black hole.
(everyone except the two girls giggle)
RUHI: c’mon supro shut up, you are always hurting everyone’s feelings
SUPRO: sorry MOM, haha
Teacher
Supro! If you spent as much time studying as joking, IIT tumhara hota.
Class laughs. Teacher tries to hide a smile.

SCENE 4 – BREAK TIME MOMENTS (3:00 – 4:00)


Friends share lunch boxes on the stairs.

I made sandwiches! One last time.

Don’t say “last time”! I’ll cry.
Supro(suprojeet)
debzzzz, you cry when someone finishes their tiffin without telling you.
Everyone laughs. debzzzz hits him playfully.
Adrik
Guys I’ll be going to the field, do you guys want to join me?
SURPO: yess,I’ll tag along
RITWIK: But we are going to have our exams next month, I don’t want to injure myse-
ADRIK: C’mon man, it’s your last day of school , at least enjoy it today
RITWIK: okay if you say so…
RUHI and DEBZZ: we are fine here you guys can go
ALL three: okay

SCENE 5 – SCHOOL GROUNDS (4:00 – 5:00)


Supro(suprojeet) and Adrik play ball pass pass.
Supro(suprojeet)
College me milte rahenge na?
Adrik
Promise. I’m not letting you guys forget me.
Supro(suprojeet)
Impossible. You’re unforgettable… for all the wrong reasons.
They laugh, but the emotion sits underneath.

SCENE 7 – SECOND LAST PERIOD:


TEACHER’S MONOLOGUE (7:30 – 10:00)
The class teacher, Mrs. Fernandes, enters with a soft smile. The room becomes quiet.
Teacher
So… this is it. Your second last class… ever.
Students look around, emotional.
Teacher (continues)
You think you’ll remember formulas, dates, definitions?
Maybe. Maybe not.
But what you will remember… are the friends sitting next to you.
Camera pans across the six friends.
Teacher
School is the only place where you’re all equal—
same classrooms, same tiffin breaks, same punishments, same laughs.
Life outside… will not be this simple.
But everything you need… the courage, the kindness, the confidence—
you’ve already learned it here.
Students tear up.
Teacher (softer)

• Adrik stands in the empty classroom, touching his desk.


• Supro(suprojeet) sits alone on the basketball court.
• debzzzz and ruhi visit the garden area where they spent breaks.
• Supro goes to the canteen, ordering samosas “on credit, last time, promise!”
• Ritwik sits in the library, surrounded by books, smiling quietly.

Eventually, they all meet on the terrace.
