Recruiting Manager
McKinsey & Company
Mumbai Office

Dear Recruiting Manager,

I am writing to express my interest in the internship opportunity at McKinsey & Company. I am currently a third-year
student at Government College of Engineering, Jalgaon (GCOE), pursuing a Bachelor of Technology. While my
academic background is rooted in engineering, I am passionate about addressing organizational challenges and solving
strategic problems, which is why I am eager to transition into management consulting.

Throughout my studies, I have actively sought opportunities to enhance my leadership and management skills. I
coordinated Circuithon, a large-scale technical event, where I led a team, managed logistics, and ensured the event's
smooth execution for over 100 participants. Additionally, I have been an active member of e-TESA, our departmental
student body, where I’ve contributed to organizing student engagement initiatives. These roles have strengthened my
problem-solving and organizational capabilities—skills that are vital in management consulting.

During my time in the department, I’ve observed several key challenges related to management that could be
addressed through strategic thinking and effective leadership:

1. Inefficient Resource Allocation: Engineering departments often struggle with optimal use of resources,
including faculty time, departmental budgets, and lab equipment, which impacts student preparation and
hands-on learning.
2. Communication Breakdowns: Misalignment between faculty and students on course objectives, expectations,
and project requirements often leads to confusion and delays in academic progress.
3. Lack of Student Engagement: Many students are not actively involved in extra-curricular or departmental
activities, largely due to the absence of structured leadership opportunities or incentive-driven engagement.

With my experience in coordinating large events and leading student initiatives, I am confident that I could help
improve departmental efficiency by fostering better communication, resource management, and student engagement. I
believe these skills will also allow me to bring value to McKinsey, especially in addressing similar organizational
challenges in consulting projects.

I am particularly drawn to McKinsey due to your commitment to excellence, problem-solving, and the opportunity for
continuous learning. I would be thrilled to bring my leadership, analytical thinking, and strategic mindset to McKinsey
and contribute to the impactful work your teams are doing globally.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of contributing to McKinsey's success.

Sincerely,
Rounak R Pagare
