Introduction
Good morning, teacher and classmates.
Today, our group is honored to present on the topic: How Celebrities Influence the Attitudes and
Behavior of Youth. This is a highly relevant subject in today’s world, because young people
spend a large amount of time on social media, where celebrities play a very important role. Their
influence can be seen in the way teenagers think, what they value, and even how they dress and
make decisions.
So I would like to introduce our team member the first one is me “” the second is”” and the last
one is””
In our presentation, we will explore four key aspects: the power of social media, the impact
celebrity fandom on young people, the influence of celebrities on youth fashion and the right
attitude to take.
Thank you for your attention. Now, let’s begin with the first part: The Power of Social Media.
Script – The Power of Social Media
Social media has given celebrities a level of power that is unprecedented. Platforms like TikTok,
Instagram, and YouTube allow them to connect with millions of young people instantly. A single
post can spread worldwide within hours because algorithms promote highly engaging content,
especially from popular figures.
According to Pew Research, about 90% of U.S. teenagers use YouTube, and around 60 to
70% regularly use TikTok and Instagram. Nearly 15% of teens say they are online almost
constantly. More than half, 54%,admit it would be difficult for them to give up social media.
These statistics reveal how deeply social media is integrated into the everyday lives of young
people. It is not only about entertainment. Many teens develop what researchers call parasocial
relationships — one-sided emotional bonds that make them feel personally connected to
celebrities. This sense of closeness makes the influence even stronger: one post about fashion,
lifestyle, or personal beliefs can directly shape how young people see themselves, what they buy,
and what values they adopt.
One clear example of how celebrities influence consumers is the case of Miss Grand
International 2021, Nguyễn Thúc Thùy Tiên, who promoted a product called Kera vegetable
candy.
In her advertisements, she claimed that one piece of candy was equal to a plate of vegetables and
that it was safe even for children and pregnant women. Because she is a famous and trusted
public figure, many people believed her words and bought the product without really knowing
what was inside.
However, later investigations showed that the real amount of vegetables in the candy was very
low, and the product didn’t meet the quality standards. This case clearly shows the strong impact
of celebrity endorsements — people tend to believe in the image and reputation of the celebrity
rather than the actual product information.
It reminds us that while celebrities can boost sales, consumers should still check facts carefully
instead of trusting fame alone.
In conclusion, the power of social media lies both in its massive reach and in the emotional
connection it fosters. Celebrities can use this influence to promote positive change, such as
awareness and charity, but they can also set unrealistic standards and encourage unhealthy
behaviors if young people follow them uncritically.
