ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Immeasurable appreciation and deepest gratitude for the help and support are extended to the following persons
who in one way or another have contributed in making this study possible.
College of Engineering Department instructors, their guidance and effort in teaching us the necessary
knowledge and techniques on planning, designing and calculation of structures that helped us in making this study
possible.
Engr. John A. Patnaan, subject adviser, for his persistent and undoubted devotion for sharing his
knowledge and experience in the field of engineering, for his support, advices, guidance, valuable comments,
suggestions and provisions that benefited us much in the completion and success of this project study.
To our classmates and friends, for providing us necessary information and sharing their thoughts that
helped us complete this study.
To our dear parents, for their unending love and support, for providing all our needs financially and
morally, for their patience and understanding, for their never fading advises and for being there no matter what.

And above all, our Almighty God, for His presence during our hard and best times. For His love and
wonderful blessings, He is showering upon us each day of our lives. For the provision and wisdom, He bestowed
upon us, for keeping us and our love ones always safe, for giving us enough knowledge and ability to perform each
task that was assigned to us and for the challenges He has given us that made us stronger than ever. We thank Him
for his comfort during the time that we are about to give up. By His grace, we were able to finish this project study
without any conflict.

NSCP 2015 section 203 Load Combinations

Practical rules of preliminary sizing of members such as girders or beams, columns, slabs and
footings can be used based on provisions on minimum requirements as per prescribed by the
code. Most of these requirements are based on members which are likely to be damaged due
to large deflection.

NSCP 407.3.1 Minimum Slab Thickness

[Link] For solid non-prestressed slabs not supporting or attached to partitions or other
construction likely to be damaged by large deflections, overall slab thickness h shall not be
less

36
Table [Link] Minimum Thickness of Solid
Non-Prestressed Two-Way Slabs Without Interior Beams

[1]
ln is the clear span in the long direction, measured face to face of supports
[2]
For fy between values given in the table, minimum thickness shall be calculated by linear
interpolation.
[3]
Drop panels as given in Section 208.2.4
[4]
slabs with beams between columns along exterior edges. The value of ∝f for the edge beam
shall be calculated in accordance with Section [Link]. Exterior panels shall be considered
without edge beams if ∝f is less than 0.8.

Therefore, Adopt 300mm x 500mm beam size For Primary beams and 200mm x 250mm for
secondary beams. Adequate to

t = 0.45+ 2(0.05)

t = 0.55m

6. reinforcing bar minimum requirement, use 20mm ∅ bar
