Digital Empowerment Assignment

Q1
Ans) In today's world we do most of our daily work online like shopping, interacting, working etc.
and while it makes our life easier it makes us prone to privacy invasions and makes our private
things at risk.

There are many ways by which scammers make themselves privy to our information like
someone may receive a message claiming their bank account needs verification, and without
thinking, they enter their details, only to find their money gone. Similarly, downloading movies,
songs, or apps from unknown websites can harm devices and expose private data without us
realizing it.

If someone manages to guess or steal the password, they can easily access all connected
accounts, leading to identity theft or financial loss. One thing that makes us more prone is to use
public Wi-Fi, these wifis are not protected and any of the hackers can access and hack into our
devices making everything in our device prone to scams.

In conclusion, staying safe online is all about being careful. Simple actions like using strong
passwords, avoiding unknown websites, and being cautious while sharing information can go a
long way in protecting privacy and keeping personal information secure.

Q2)
a)Phishing is like an online scam in which scammers want to trick you into revealing your
personal details or information by pretending to be someone trustworthy. A socially-engineered
email, text, or message impersonating banks, social media platforms, and other sites are
frontrunners for phishing sites.

These messages typically include links to fake websites that are camouflaged as real world
websites, which will ask you to enter your oh-so-confidential password and more. Once all of
that is done, the scammers will take your sensitive information and misuse it to log into your
accounts and perhaps, even make withdrawal transactions.

To protect yourself from phishing scams, it is wise not to click on suspicious and unfamiliar links.
Always cross verify with the supposedly contacted company and you might as well never reveal
sensitive or crucial details and information over messages and emails
b).Spamming is defined as sending a high volume of unwanted emails, messages, or
notifications while trying to sell a product or promote a service. Generally, these messages
appear in social media, as texts, or in your inbox.

Spam messages can prove to be relevant due to time wasting aspects and cluttering your inbox.
Sometimes, these messages contain links that can be malign and try to obtain your personal
information or even harm your device. To avoid spam, these fences are best put in place; do not
click unknown links, unsubscribe from unwanted emails, and use spam filters in email settings.
Being careful helps reduce the problem of inbox clutter and keeps sensitive information secure.

c)Viruses, worms and trojans are types of malware that can harm your system or even
compromise your private data. They usually come from downloading files from unknown sites,
clicking onads or links, or even opening attachments from unwanted emails.

A virus is a file which can negatively affect your computer and is a thing which gets attached to
the existing files. For instance, while trying to download a free game from a website you do not
trust, the virus could infect your computer and cause it to slow down or even worse, delete
critical files.

A worm is a type of malware that does not require any actions from us to infect other devices.
From one device to another, a worm can travel through the internet and damage by draining the
available storage space or crashing the entire system.

A trojan is a form of malware that is seen as a genuine program but in reality have harmful
program files inside it. For example a person may download a small looking software, only to he
handed over to the hands of hackers who will have full access over your data.
